Found my puppy.Ready in 2 weeks. A little older-5 months-but has had 2 weeks of training academy and is going good. A little red. and white parti boy. Will still get pup in July, this little guy will maybe help to train pup. Hopefully when I retire will have 2 therapy dogs to keep me out of trouble. Now working on name. Happiest have been in months-reason to get motivated.

This makes all of us feel badly but it was good of you to contribute first hand info AND another alternative. I hope Pam understands we're trying to help because she asked and we care. My dog and I are a therapy team so I naturally want to help someone who also has that goal.
Ditto!
I found the website too. And some of the complaints. Pam, I know you're excited about this pup but you asked for our opinions. Walk away. Please don't support this. All your hard work and dreams will very likely end badly.
I counted 42 breeding dogs, 33 puppies for sale, and pages of marketing hype. Among the complaints were sick puppies, serious chronic illnesses, filth, and a breeder who refused to honor his guarantee or return calls. They hype therapy dog temperaments but there are so many disconnects in the way they run their operation. At worst, a puppy mill. At best, a high volume commercial kennel that mass produces pups. Not good either way.
Exactly, Cheryl. Everything I was thinking only you said it in a much more effective way. :)
Pam, it's so good that you're doing your research and it would be better to continue looking for a reputable breeder. I've also heard lots of good things about the breeder the other ladies have posted above. :)
Pam, I agree with everyone's comments, and there are a number of red flags. I did a search like BG did with the image. (And he's a sweet looking doodle, for sure!) It does look like a high-volume kennel, to say the least... I searched more on him after I looked at the website, and when I saw this place is about 45 minutes from where I grew up. (A quick search of his name also showed that he has a DK account, but no activity for years.)
I so appreciate all of your opinions and advice. I trust all of you to know what is best for the doodles and for me. I had doubts, but simply let my wanting a pup get a head of my reasoning. I sent an email telling breeder I would not be taking pup. I had not put a deposit down-mainly because of my own doubts. You all just verified what I felt. I had to get the opinion from the "board of directors'. I wish I had the nerve to tell them how I really feel-I feel horrible for the puppies. Thank you all. I am so glad I found DK.
Hugs! We're glad you're here and I know turning that pup down was not easy but you did the right thing. Your pup is out there waiting for you :)
I know what a tough decision this must have been for you, but I also applaud your willingness to wait for the right puppy. If you have anymore questions as you go through the process please do not hesitate to come and ask for guidance. Having someone ask and then actually listen to the advice they are given is refreshing!
I'll echo everyone's comments again. I understand how hard it is to wait for a puppy - especially when you finally feel like you're ready, but you did the right thing by choosing not to go with this breeder. You will find your puppy! :)
