Archie has had loose stool for the past 24 hours and although this happens every now and then (sensitive stomach) today it was most odd as he pooped out what looked like egg yolks/eggwhites completey yellowish in color (sorry for the image!) HAHA :) Usually this just passes and theres no need for a Vet visit, but just wondering if anyone else ever deals with this or what this may be a sign of?
Thanks!
Sam

Do you notice if it coincides with something like his monthly HW or flea/tick preventatives?
Interesting that you say this....because I don't remember previous months, but Archie gets his monthly preventatives on the 15th of each month...He did get this mucous/loose poop on Friday the 18th. A few days after, but...?
What could be the potential issue there? allergies?
No, just a mild reaction to the drugs or chemicals. It's fairly common. I would not give them on the same day if you are using two different products, so that if he is having a reaction to something, you'll know which is causing it.
I Frontline for both an usually so give the flea/tick a day later (16th). I will keep an eye on it for May to see if it happens again.
If it does, would you consider changing brands of preventatives? Or just let it ride out in that Archie just doesn't agree well with the chemicals/drugs?
Frontline does not prevent HW, so what are you using for that? Typically, the oral meds are more likely to cause a GI reaction than the spot-ons.
My fault...I was thinking just flea/tick. Sentinel is what we use for Archie on the HW front.
Yeah, thats how Archie is. Its like one poop with mucus but its barely poop. I call it just mucous because he never eats when his belly is upset if its not Chicken and rice lol. So theres no poop to be had its just basically mucous.
How is Archie and his poop?
he is doing much better thanks!
Usually mushy...sometimes its just mucous (completely yellowy jelly looking stuff) and no poop at all...its real gross haha Sorry for the image :)
Has Archie had a stool sample since this GI issue started occurring every few months?
While the issue keeps getting better, it's reoccurring, and could be related to an underlying condition that occasionally flairs up due to some environmental trigger (e.g., stress). I know that sometimes giardia can present with intermittent diarrhea. With stool samples you can typically drop them off at the vet without an appointment and they'll call you a day later with the results--most of the time you'll have to request a special test for giardia since it's hard to detect.
