I'm sure this is a silly question, but I'm new to dogs. I smeared some peanut butter inside Mila's puppy Kong, and she loves it... but she can't get all of it out. So can you clean those things? Seems like old peanut butter would eventually get nasty.
Also, when people talk about freezing yogurt and peanut butter in a Kong, do you fill up the whole space? Or just the edges?
Just not getting it... :)

Ragley has a Tux too- I tuck some treats in the bottom and then stuff it with a greek yogurt and PB mix and freeze it. She LOVES it!
We have a lot of food allergies in our family so I stuff our kong with less typical foods. I use mashed sweet potato, unsweetened apple sauce, and mashed bananas. Various combos of those 3. I also sometimes stuff it with wet dog food - I have one that is all natural and just chicken, no other by products. I try to stuff the whole thing so he will spend more time working on it. I find that the wet dog food is the messiest so I use it less, but he does love it! For cleaning I just rinse with warm water and then run it through the dishwasher (top rack). Oh, and I always freeze - good for a teething puppy, also takes more time for them to work it out and I think it is less messy overall. I think I will probably by a 2nd kong to fill with water and freeze, I think that would work nicely for a teething puppy as well.
It should first be noted that I don't have my dog yet. So my input isn't worth quite as much as those that have gone through this first hand. However, I did find this video.
I cut up the dog treats Bacon Beggins and when my dogs knock the kongs around the treats fall out. I never put peanut butter in them because they pick them up and I find them in the family room on the carpet.
I use plain yogurt, kibble, plain 100% pumpkin, just about anything your imagination can conjure up ... keeping it healthy of course. Even bananas and yogurt, fresh blueberries or cranberries and yogurt. Fill them up solid! freeze them! :) I sometimes use boiled chicken pieces or boiled liver pieces in the yogurt too. I use the frozen ones for when I must leave the house to keep them entertained for a bit. You can also use them as a way to feed your dog his/her meals so as to not overload them on extra calories. I love my Kongs! :)
I usually give my dogs the kongs in the dogs crates so as to not spread food bourne illness around on the carpeting and other surfaces. I really like to give them their kongs outside the best! It saves on disinfecting their crates. :)
We hate Kongs. Unless of course, we are bouncing them off the floor. Cool silly bounce.
I dont want to clean out Kongs either.
So, we used Leg bones and stuffed those with a variety of things. Somewhere around here I posted a photo years ago with our creations.
