Karen, this is a question for you, I think! :-)

We just finished Lexi's bag of Acana lamb and apple. It was her best kibble so far, but it still gave her soft stools. I tried a small sample of the duck / pear today. I thought that because the formulations were so similar (and she can tolerate Stella and Chewy's duck very well) that it would be fine, but it wasn't great for her belly. Even softer than usual this evening.

Given she's now really itchy again AND the grain-free single Acana formula won't be ready until summer, I'm thinking maybe this is my chance to try something totally new. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on kibble. I know raw works for her because it is the least processed, but we've upped her food, and we're going through almost a package of raw food every week to ten days.

Do you think the Omegas in the Orijen or Acana fish formulas could help with her itching? Can I still give her the same fish oil supplement if I switch to those? AND, do you think one would be better than the other given her belly issues?

Thanks!

Shari

You're never going to go to one meal a day. That does contribute to the risk of bloat, getting all of the day's worth of food at one time. You'll feed twice a day, so you can do the kibble at one meal and the raw at the other if you like. Eventually, if she does well with the Orijen and you want to eliminate the raw, you can.

Oh, ha! I didn't mean one meal total. I just meant one kibble meal and one raw meal. I wanted to get in one kibble meal out of the two daily meals. :-)

Oh, lol.

I wouldn't mix anything. She's getting different kinds of food anyway, just start the Orijen. Of course, she will need a little time to adjust, but unless things get much worse than they are now, stick with it for a couple of weeks.

HI everyone, We've been traveling a lot, and I haven't been online much. Just wanted to let you know that Lexi is doing great with the six fish food. It's the best kibble we've tried yet. Now to find the cheapest price. ;-) Thanks for everyone's help! Shari

I think you will probably find it to be the cheapest on Chewy.com!

When I saw this post I decided to switch from Fromm gamebird because of soft poop to the Orijen 6 fish and mojo has done so well on the food, poops more solid and less poop. Plus he loves the food. I bought it off Chewy.com after the small test back went well in the changeover for the best price. Thank you Karen.

Yes! Especially thank you to Karen!

That was the food that worked best for JD, too. I'm so glad Lexi & Mojo are doing well with it!
