A lot of these dogs look like doodles, and were described as "large breed poodle mixes".
THIS is why you don't buy a puppy from on-line puppy ad sites like "Next Day Pets" and Puppy Find."

So awfully sad for these poor dogs..
How awful…again! Please spread the word, everyone. Do your research online to find a breeder BUT never buy a pup online or through a pet shop. You have to visit the breeder or have a trusted reference that has been to the breeder, you have to SEE in person where and how adult dogs are kept, the breeder has to meet the DK guidelines, and check the internet for complaints. I'm glad MI is working on legislation. Governor Corbett has gutted the puppy mill legislation we worked so hard to get 6-7 years ago. The Dept. of Kennel Licensing and Inspections has been told not to write citations and the puppy mills are open for business again. Just shameful and I hope he does not get reelected.
The pet industry lobby (PIJAC) works full time to make sure no laws are passed that would mean a dime less in their pockets. Unfortunately, those of us on the other side don't seem to have the same kind of strength, power, or motivation to fight back. :(
How sad for these poor dogs..I hope they get the treatment they need to live a fulfilling life. It still saddens/sickens me with this law they are trying to pass. I don't see how any good can come out of "large scale dog facilities".
Thank you for posting this..a good reminder to always do your research..
And here is what we have in California: http://www.ivhsspca.org/aboutus/press-room/press-releases/13284-inl...
I hope I got the link right. My dh and I went to visit some of the dogs in the shelter to see if the DRC might be able to assist. All the dogs had been bathed and shaved but two of the dogs are so severely unsocialized that workers were unable to vaccinate them. A couple of them have been adopted by extremely dog experienced owners, including the poodle mom (who went to one of the shelter administrators) and, as we were there, Rexi, a beautiful silvery dood, was adopted by a woman who is very dog savvy as she had rescued before and has trained dogs to therapy status. The ones who are left are extremely fearful and will take lots time, patience, experience, love, and training before even being adoptable, but for the right person, well worth the effort.
This makes me cry, again. And dead dogs in a freezer? WTF?
And the home values on that block are in the $900,000 range.
The southern CA kill shelters are filled with desirable, adoptable little poodle mixes. It's mind boggling. In my area, small poodle mixes are adopted within hours of being available in a shelter.
And as long as we're on the subject, here's what is going on in southern Indiana:

The person responsible for this is a poodle breeder and a vet tech.
So much for those credentials meaning anything.
Will the DRC or IDOG get involved if they are doodles?
