Quickly and effectively killing fleas and ticks for up to 12 weeks in a single dose, Bravecto Chewable Tablets contains the active substance Fluralaner; a new extoparasticide belonging to the isoxazolina group.

Bravecto Tablets eliminate up to 99% of the fleas and ticks on your dog within 8-12 hours and 100% of them within the 12 week period.

The tablets can also be used as part of a treatment strategy for the control of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).

Anyone hear of this product yet? Any of our doodles in Europe use this product and can give us a review?

Exciting new flea and tick product coming out at the end of June. We are on the pre-order wait list for the new product "Bravecto." this will be a chewable pill that will kill fleas and ticks, for 3 months. It will be priced similar to frontline. Product has had great results in Europe.   Elmridge Animal Hospital, Canal Fulton, OH

Joanne, approval for the use of isoxazoline insecticides is new-born, I mean patents granted this month in this country. Dupont has one pending.

I don't know when they were approved for use in the UK or Europe, but there cannot be much history. Too new for me.

This makes me nervous...if it lasts in the body for 3 months...how strong must it be!?

Of equal or greater concern would be that it hasn't been in use long enough or with a great enough sampling of dogs, to know what kinds of side effects or long term issues there might be.

Agreed!
I agree too.

Yep, too new for me too, but just keeping us up to date. So curious what Europe has to say.

I did bring this to Nicky's attention but she said she would have to consult her vet as she does not use the product in Ireland either.

On another note, many good products are often not used in the USA because of the FDA. Okay, so that's good, but it is the same FDA, that never regulates our dog food either.  So, that said, I am keeping an open mind

I'm just home from a business trip and will call my vet tomorrow. The drug regulations are very stringent here and there's no way an untested drug could go on sale. Once I find out more I will get back to you.

I just looked up Bravecto - It only is effective for 8 weeks against ticks - so what do you do for the other 4 weeks?

In reading about the testing - it was only done on beagles - they were euthanized at the end of the test period to examine their organs - if I'm not mistaken it was 168.

I wouldn't switch to something new if your current products are working.  I heard that new flea and tick meds were coming out in response to Frontline being available at Costco, etc.

Not a good sampling - either in numbers or time.

This is somewhat off topic but my vet said that she pays close attention to what comes out of England.  She said that they are ahead of us in veterinary medicine and their dogs receive a higher level of care.

Too new for me as well. I will stick to my frontline plus!
