Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
First, I would like to thank you all for such heartwarming love and thoughts that were sent our way. The "love" must be working because only into the third day of medication Gracie is no longer crying when she opens her mouth and she actually greeted us at the door with one of her monsters in her mouth. She was holding it with the front teeth but that is a real start. She is very happy and has energy. We only used the pain pills for one day so now she is only on the Prednisone and antiacid Actually, there is absolutely nothing wrong with her that you can see. She is no longer shying away, crying when she opens her mouth and acting depressed. I think she was in pain and scared. She is her perky self and yesterday I took her to the channel to chase squirrels in the rocks. She really wanted to swim but I didn't have time for the bath that follows. We are headed back for another run in a few minutes. Now that we are not using the chuck-it and tennis ball I need to find a way to exercise. The squirrels are perfect! She has the best time running and poking her head in the holes and trying to dig them out. Gracie is a very happy and energetic girl so I think things will be good in the future. After hearing from some of you about autoimmune system diseases and how well they are controlled on medication, I feel much better. So far she is not showing any side affects from the medication. We jump started with an antacid to keep her stomach safe. We will re-a**** her with the vet after a month and probably keep her medicated for 3-6 months if she is still tolerating it. So again thank you for all the love and prayers you have sent Gracie's way. She received them loud and clear and loves you all for being the special friends that you are!

Whoohoo! I just got on the computer for the day and saw that Gracie is feeling much better. I know her treatment will last months, but it is just such a relief when we don't think that they hurt so much.
So good to read this. I forgot to mention that six months after I was being wheeled around in a wheelchair I did a 150K trek in Brazil and did another one a few years later. I am expecting Gracie to be back playing with her chuck it very soon.
It is definitely a sight for sore eyes when a doodle starts to take an interest in their toys again:) So happy that Gracie wants to play and I know you must feel better. Way to go Gracie!
That's really great news! You are such a good doodle mom, I KNEW you would think of ways to entertain Gracie without her balls if that's what it would take. I have been thinking a lot about you guys, and I'm so glad she's doing so much better!
Glad to hear the positive update. Go Gracie Girl!
Well your update certasinly made my day. I am so happy to hear that she is almost back to herself, sweet baby...Hugs to all of you..
Yeah for Gracie. I am so glad the meds are working. Autoimmune diseases are all about pain and symptom management. I strongly believe animals benefit from prayers more easily than humans as they don't get in the way of the prayers with questions. Of course steroids help too.
Love to you all
'Great news. So glad to hear!
I realize this post was from 2012 but it got my attention. My Duke is a Goldendoodle born 9/11/12 and has masticatory myositis. We have been on Preds for 5+ months, tapering slowly with hopes of full recovery. I am intrested to know how your Gracie has come thru this treatment process. I pray it has been successful and my Duke will too be healthy soon.
