Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Oakley is now just over 5 months old and seems his growth has greatly slowed down over the last month. He has gained just over 2 pounds in the past month and is 19 pounds right now. He is a multi-gen Australian labradoodle and mom and dad were both around 22 pounds. Breeder expected Oakley to be around the same size as his parents so I am safe to assume he is almost done growing? Those of you who have adult pups this size, what age did they reach full size? Also am curious about coat change for a multi-gen mini? I haven't noticed any coat changes so far. Is this less common with multi gens or mini's since they reach full size sooner?

My doodle is not a multi gen, however I was told she was full grown at the Vet's office at 19 pds, when she was 10 months old, however she continued to grow until around 16 months. She is now 28 pds, also got taller and longer. My experience with the coat change happened at approximately One year. My sons multi-gen had a slight coat change at around the same age. She is almost two and 18 pds. I think because they are a mixed breed you just never know.
My mini stopped growing around 7 months. He has really started matting at the 9-10 month range. We are keeping up, but it requires diligence
I have a multi gen Austalian and she was 15 lbs at 8 mos. She is now 17.2 at 3 yrs. I was told she would be 20 lbs., never happened. Parents were 20 lbs and I'm guessing the father was around 30 lbs. however, I do believe my dog was the runt of the litter. Go figure :)

Kona is a double doodle (half  medium F1B goldendoodle and half miniature  multi-gen australian labradoodle) and he stopped growing at about 8 months.  And the next week, unfortunately, his super-easy-comb-long-wavy soft coat started to change.  He became curlier and started to mat a little.  Then at 10 months I adopted a sister and their hard wrestling play caused him to become a matted mess within days.  I stay on top of it now and brush him out 4 to 5 times a week, and cut his long luscious hair down from 4 inches to 2 inches about 3 times per year. Right after I go down to 2 inches, I really only need to do the long brushing sessions a few times a week.  But he has come to enjoy relaxing in my lap while I do it, so it's very pleasant.

His weight stayed at 24 pounds for over a year and just recently bumped up 5 pounds due to a food change, but I'm bringing that back down slowly with smaller portions.
