Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well BIG lesson learned by me today! As a first time puppy owner in general I have just learned a very valuable lesson that I thought I would share with you all and we can have a good laugh at my expense :)
My darling, beautiful, lovely little labradoodle puppy has managed to find the time to chew through the cord of our refrigerator! Don't quite know when; I'm guessing sometime in his first week home before we crated him and he was staying in the kitchen. Didn't realize it until THE END of lunch today when I opened the fridge and the light didn't come on, which was very curious as it had come on at the beginning of lunch when I was getting things ready? So decided to check out the cord and sure enough, definite signs of puppy teeth having been present at some point! Maybe he got himself a little shock and it won't happen again but I don't know. Electrician has been called....
Does he look like he feels guilty? LOL

Poor Tucker. Look in his mouth for burns. The metal in wires can be toxic so if you can't piece together all the pieces, I would have the vet do an x-ray just to make sure it is all out of his system. Tenley ate a piece of computer wire a month ago and it was in his small intestines after a few hours and he passed it within 24 hours (we had two xrays, two days apart), but the vet was very concerned about the toxicity of the metal.
I did look in his mouth and saw nothing out of the ordinary and I will call the vet for sure! I don't think he actually ate any of it though. It looks like he just bit straight through it, and he has been his normal active happy silly self and this would have happened about two weeks ago. It doesn't look like anything is actually missing off the cord either. I just pushed the wires back together inside the cord and put the plastic cord piece that was bitten through back in place and taped it until the electrcian can get there. Meantime CRATE CRATE CRATE...TETHER TETHER TETHER!
OMG those ears. Such a cutie
Needless to say, you are VERY LUCKY that Tucker didn't get more than a "little" shock. I don't know what the particular attraction is, but Josie chewed through two, fortunately innocuous, wires at our house (when she was younger). Our breeder suggested getting on all fours and pretending you are a puppy. Her advice was that "by rights", everything accessible to the puppy is up for grabs. So glad your pup is OK!
Thanks everyone. He is adorable so it's hard to be mad or stay mad at him! I am going to have to get down on all fours as suggested a couple of comments ago, but there isn't much I can do about that particular cord other than tape it to the wall I guess!
YIKES! Glad he is OK... And on a side note... I hope he grows into those ears LOL. What a cutie
