Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
It is with an extremely heavy heart and tears streaming down my face that I am letting you know that Buddy, our sweet foster boy, passed away in his sleep two nights ago for reasons unknown.
He was snuggled up with my husband in a big warm bed where he was loved.
My heart aches. Not for my pain, my pain is NOTHING compared to what this poor boy must have felt. He was dumped by the only owners he ever known in an Animal Control Facility- which was composed of chain-link kennels. An extremely scary place for any dog, especially a sweet doodle. He was sick, and they just left him there to die.
I tried last week to get him out and they wouldn't let me- they insisted they knew what was best for him because they do their own adoptions.
I had to think outside the box to get Buddy out. No doodle deserves that, especially a senior, who obviously had health issues.
Thanks to my amazing husband, we bought Buddy two nights in a warm bed and a day of freedom. I wish it was more.
This is where I want this to be an educational piece.... This is WHY we, DRC, requests medical records for ALL of the dogs we take as rehome. This is WHY we take care of their vetting. This Animal Control Facility accepted an owner relinquishment without proof of vaccines, or any other veterinary documentation. I haven't even had a chance to get him to my own vet. We would have taken him even if we knew he was sick, it would have just been nice to know ahead of time.
Thank you DRC for allowing this sweet, gentle soul to come to us, even if it was for a short time. Thank you Wesley Opie Singleton for being such a big supporter in my rescue efforts, for never questioning and just doing.
Buddy- I wish we had more time with you, to show you more love. To show you that not all people are cruel. I hope you at least caught of glimpse of that in the 24 hours that you were here. I would have liked to take you to the beach to play, bought you a McDonald's Happy Meal for lunch, and you still could have had that rotisserie chicken for dinner that you had last night! I probably would have made you a cake too.
Rest In Peace Sweet Boy. I hope you are flying high <3
I have had several friends on Facebook make donations to Chloe's Hip Fund in Memory of Buddy. That is an action that I will forever be grateful for. Several have been making an $85 donation- the same amount that we paid to buy Buddy his freedom, others have pledged $8.50. If anyone else would like to do the same, please visit www.youcaring.com/princesschloe

R.I.P. Buddy in your new forever home. Thank you Kate for sharing his story with us.
What a wonderful thing you did for Buddy! I wish you peace with the knowing he left this world with loving and compassionate care-givers surrounding him. Your story angers me knowing how cruel pet owners can be, and at the same time fills me with hope and gratitude knowing there are oh-so-loving souls like you.
