Questions for my fellow doodle moms and dads

Emma recently started to go back underneath the table. It happened after I came back from my holidays in June. My aunt was looking after her while i was away for two weeks. Since June, she loves going under the table. After a walk, she goes straight under the table. Its become like her safe haven there. she used to go there when she was a baby.. and then she left that phase. I dont know what I can do to help her.  Ideas?

thanks !

I'm not sure she needs help, lol. If she loves to be under the table, why is that a problem? Many dogs use their crates as "safe havens", this doesn't seem a lot different. Maybe I'm missing something, but I wouldn't worry about it. :)

thanks karen and jackdoodle !!

that is reassuring ! i was just worried that she may be afraid of something. :)

I with Karen on this.  I think she feels comfortable & safe there.  Charlie likes to sleep under my desk next to my feet and Beau like to sleep in the corner behind a glass table that has a long tablecloth over it which makes him feel like he is in his own secluded spot - he can still see and hear everything going on around us.

thanks !!!!

awww Charlie and Beau sound so cute. Each with their own spot. Doodles have such cute personalities.

Sawyer goes under our bed. It's his den. He started that after we stopped crating. I think they just need their own little cave..

My Hanna used to go under the table all the time as a puppy too!  In fact she probably still would if she could fit !  Now her favorite spot when she is tired or hot is on the lower level by the washing machine, where its quieter and the floor is nice and  cool...we call it her "cave."  I bet under the table is Emma's "safe" spot where it is quiet and cool?!  : )

Cocoa loves to sleep under tables. We have all hardwood floors, so I put little rugs under the several of the tables for her. She also likes to rest inside her crate- she just likes something over her. I always assumed it was like a little cave for her. It never occurred to me it wasn't a good thing. I'd let Emma enjoy her naps under the tables!

She might have gotten back in the habit while you were gone and she was missing you.  It is not something I would worry about.  My dogs like to nap under the kitchen table too.

Our Vern is always getting his 108 pound body under our dining room table. I don't give it a second thought. I think he just likes it there!!

OMD I didn't realize Vern was that big! And I think 65 lb doodles are large!

He is huge :)

I would also agree. What's the problem? Does she appear to be fearful of something or agitated? It could be just another phase. I know Enzo picks a spit, it's her " go to spot" for a few weeks and then all of a sudden, decides to change it up. She has been known to sleep under the kitchen table.
