After a year of puppy destruction, several months of house construction and a terrible Northern CA drought we finally bit the bullet on installing a synthetic lawn in the backyard.  The two weeks that it's been in the yard have been nothing short of life changing!

I have to say Oliver loves it and we love it too.  As soon as he stepped on it and gave it a sniff it was instant love.  The pup has enjoyed rolling around in it and has taken many naps in the sun on his new lawn.  I'm looking forward to a rainy winter without muddy paws!
Oliver also got new outside toys that weren't filthy, and because there's no dirt they're staying pretty clean (which is nice when he decides to sneak one in to the house).  He's obsessed with his new squeaky balls.  The only downside has been the temper tantrums being thrown at the back door wanting to go out and play in his new yard.
Any other people out there with synthetic lawns?  Has it held up for you?  Curious to hear other experiences!

I live in a townhouse so have no experience, but wow, is Oliver cute!

Wow !  the lawn and Oliver look great ! nice!  ...I was wondering...does it get hot at all?  Hanna likes to lay in the nice cool grass in the shade, just wondering if it ever gets too hot?

It's a little warmer than real grass, but not much.  Half our yard is in the shade at any given point and those shaded areas are pleasantly cool.  If I hadn't known it could be an issue I would never have even noticed!

Love these photos of Oliver and I can see why he is in heaven!  We live in WA state and have a regular lawn and water with irrigation water.  I would inclined to go this route if we had the issues you were facing.  Your new lawn looks fabulous!

Both Oliver and the new lawn look great! We've thought about an artificial lawn before, living in the Pacific NW, and on the downward slope of a hill, so a lot of rain drain-off water ends up in our backyard. Our yard does drain, albeit slowly,, but in the wet months the yard is quite saturated. Its off limits to free running at that time. We do have a nice wide stone walkway to the side yard where the designated potty spot is, so at least we can keep feet relatively clean, but we do have to always take them out on leash. I'm envious of your new lawn!

Oh, I'm so happy to see this. We are getting ready to get the yard prepared for some synthetic lawn. I believe we are going to start with 17x15 and add on from there, as well as laying some pavers. I'm even more excited now! The people who owned the house before us put in gravel which is all spread out and dispersed so our yard is ugly, dusty, and muddy in the winter. I can't wait to see some green back there.

Oh good luck with yours!  Seeing green when I look outside has been the biggest adjustment.  It just rained last night & we had no muddy paws!

We are going to start raking the gravel out of the way tomorrow! So excited!

Boy this does look really nice.... and thats a cute guy hanging out in your backyard!

Cute photos!!!! Your lawn looks fabulous! The only experience I have is that we took a bunch of doodles to romp on a synthetic grass on an athletic field.  Maybe that grass was harsher but one doodle injured her paws (rubbed them raw) on the turf.  The other 4 were fine.

Lucky YOU!

That's awesome! We did the same thing this summer. We live in New Mexico. Of course I made sure part of the synlawn is always in the shade so they won't burn their paws. It also rained the other day an no mud! Wooo Hoooo!
