Will I Doodle Out?

Hello!

We just brought home our second doodle last week. His name is Yogi, and he is delicious... sweet, smart and sassy (just as doodles should be!).

He's 8 weeks old, and he's a lot more retriever-y than our first doodle, Fozzie. Yogi is an F1 doodle, but I swear he was switched at birth with a golden retriever puppy!

Does anybody have a dog who looked like Yogi as a baby? Do you see any evidence of a beard forming? Would love any thoughts.

We thought the same with our doodle! He is so an F1 and when we got him he was very retriever looking. He is now 5 months old and his beard is coming in and his tail has curled a bit but he's mostly retriever looking! Your pup looks much fluffier than Oliver did when he was a pup so he may doodle out yet!

It does look to me like he will doodle out.

I do think Yogi will doodle out. I think he has already to a certain extent.

My puppy Luke looks just like that when we got him, he still has more of the golden look but he is tall like a poodle and has a slight beard.

I think Yogi is going to have more facial hair than Luke. If you look closely at Yogi's  puppy picture, you can see the little "chrysanthemum" of  longer hairs fanning up at the top of his muzzle and between his eyes; I don't see that in Luke's puppy photo. That little chrysanthemum is the beginning of facial furnishings.

Shaunelle, when I saw the photo above of the back of Luke, I thought "what is my Elsa doing at your house?" They look identical!

Julie, Yogi is a doll--I think I do see more 'doodling' than I did in Elsa at that age.

It is fun to see the differences.  I admit when I realized Elsa would probably not looked as I pictured, I was disappointed.  Now it doesn't matter--I wouldn't trade her for the doodliest dog in the world--sort of like knowing that my grandchildren are the most beautiful children EVER.  lol

I had the EXACT puppy 8 months ago.  He has changed his looks so many times I couldn't even count.  I think Yogi will be very similar.  Truman did not have facial furnishings right away.  It all started with wings on his cheeks and as you can see.  He has doodled out quite a bit, and still growing!

wow! maria, truman looks so much like yogi! their puppy photos could be of the same dog. he's a beautiful boy! i really hope yogi turns out to look just like him! his coat is gorgeous.

it's a lot of fun watching them grow, isn't it? our first doodle, fozzie, changed his look too many times to count.

He is beautiful and looks a lot like my Barkley did as a pup. Barkley is a medium F1 and is quite a handsome guy at 11 months, can't wait to see pictures of Yogi as he gets a little older..

hi everybody! thanks again for all of your responses. i've learned so much from this group!

today is yogi's official 10 week birthday, so i thought to post an updated photo. he's growing like a weed! he's sprouting a ton of crazy (but fine) hair all over his face, chin and head that i am wondering will eventually fill out to form a proper doodle beard. he's also lightening up quite a bit. he's a sweet and very affectionate puppy. we love him dearly!

would love any thoughts you have about my little boy!
