Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello,
I have some Questions how to groom my doodle. In this group are lot of topics about this, but I'm overstrained to find out the answers to my questions. :(
Aiko is 5 months old actually and his coat is different depending on the part of the body. His coat becomes more and more curly and thick.
The coat on his legs is so thick, that I can't brush it. Should I thin out it with the scissor? Or is that a bad idea?
On his back, he has fine hairs, which become fuzzy after brushing his coat. Do I use the wrong brush? I have a brush like this:

Underneath his ears, the coat ist so thick, that I consider to cut it out with the scissor. Can I do this in this age?

Wie oft bürstest du Nimbus?
Helga to the rescue! :-}
Did you suggest that she use a comb also?
I trim with scissors regularly under the ear flap and just behind the ears. You need a steel comb to get thru the legs. Also, use line brushing for his legs. That means brush all the coat up against the hair growth and then brush down in tiny sections. Comb each section after brushing. I do this while my dogs are lying down. I put a towel between their legs to make it more comfortable and keep sideways pressure off their knee and elbow joints as this is very uncomfortable for them.
Thank you all for your help.
I have ordered the brush and now I have to wait for it. :D
I try to cut the hair underneth the ears. Aiko is so twitchy, I hope I can calm him down, to do this.
If you aren't doing so already, try placing him up on a counter or table when you are grooming. Sometimes this makes them a little calmer and better behaved.
Thank you for your tip.
He looks a lot like Enzo. Which one are you using, Rosemary? I think the best one to aks is Kemp with the Doodle Country Store. I am using the green one. The purple one is quite a bit stiffer. More for curls.
Good luck! Please report how it works. :-)
