Toby is doing this weird thing just in the past week. He puts his head down and around, and almost does a complete somersault, just sideways. It's so strange and funny! He just did on in the yard in the snow. And also - do any dogs like snow MORE than doodles? Oh my goodness - Toby loves it. He's a black doodle, but mostly white right now. :) Even on a walk he'll stop and roll in snow, or walk through the tallest snow banks available. Funny, funny boy.
Halas sometimes does the somersault thing. It's like a cross between a somersault and a big flop. And, yes, Halas loves the snow, too. It snowed here again last night, and he just stood outside staring at the ground watching the snowflakes land.
That's Oski's patented wrestling move! He ducks his head down & then flops over onto his back or side--usually onto the other dog altho sometimes he'll do it by himself just to "break the ice" at the dog park. Needless to say, people are usually laughing around him, fuzzy goofball :)
Noel is a great gymnast - she has done the somersault thing since she was about 5 months old! She especially likes to do them when I dry her after a bath! It is hysterical!!!
I think I just found Mater's perfect playgroup! He loves to do somersaults! Sometimes it's attacking me while I'm trying to do stretches on the floor. Sometimes when he's just goofing in the yard. Always when playing with other dogs. It cracks me up! I've never seen another dog with this move. The doodles in this thread would have a blast together! --- Especially in a few inches of snow!!
The WWF doodle society! I can imagine Mater flopping onto you & knocking the air out of you! Oski weighs probably at least 75lbs now & the thought of him doing his flip onto me is fear & laughter inducing :^)
Hey, our doodle does this! Well, he can't get all the way over like he could when he was a puppy but he tries. I'll try to video it. He only does it with my husband. You are right - funny doodles!!
So we just need to somehow ALL get together, from all over U.S. and Canada, and have the best play group ever! Who's buying the airline tickets? :) Actually, I wouldn't want to stow Toby in the pet area - so I guess I'd have to drive.....or you could all come here.
Becket does this too! I can't believe a ;ot of others do it too. It's so funny to watch. Wish I could get a video but I never know when he's going to do it. By the time I got my camera, he'd be done. He only does it once or twice at a time. He also LOVES the snow. He tried to bury himself in our last snowstorm.
It is COLD here, and Toby just goes outside on the deck and lays in the snow, staring out at the yard. I thought maybe he was an odd boy, but apparently it's normal??? :) He will run through the snow head down, and come up completely covered! It makes for very wet floors in the house....
