Next year's calendars

How would you feel if next year, we had 2 PG members join me as a panel of judges for photos?  
Perhaps 2 individuals who didn't want to submit photos?  Or 2 LD people on a GD calendar panel and 2 GD people on an LD calendar panel?  I would be the tie breaker?

That sound like an incredible idea to help you through all those cute picture after cute picture submissions and decisions...  I would love to help in any way I can but I love submitting photos so I cannot be on the panel of judges.

Another site I follow has a deadline of August 31st but asks that submissions be all year long and not all at once

I think that would help you a bit. The submissions are better and better every year. I honestly don't know how you can do it alone.

I think if it helps you it's a good idea. I like the idea of having the GD people judging the LD calendar submissions etc, so the people doing the judging aren't disqualified from participating.

I think that makes perfect sense. There are a lot of people here that are passionate about photography and submit opinions on people's photos. I think it sounds like a lot for one person to tackle.

Faster selection process than when I do it alone.  I never do it truly 'alone,' but having an official judges panel would be great!  Easy way to get unstuck, break ties, etc. Even someone to do the initial weeding through submissions to cut the No Way photos....  There are plenty of No Way photos to delete.

I usually get to the 30-50 photo mark in the GD/LD calendars and then just sit and twiddle my thumbs or ignore them for a week.  I usually like them all too much when I have that many narrowed down.

And it might be fun for some Photography Group members to take turns each year?

I would be willing to help instead of submitting photos and I think that calling in reinforcements from the photography group is a really cool idea. I do think that it may be difficult to find people who are willing to not submit photos. I know that I'd be happy to skip submitting, but a lot of PG members really hope to get in every year and work very hard on their submission - it may be difficult to just give up on that all together.
