Has anyone ever used Vet Guard before? We originally started off using Frontline, but then we switched over to Advantix as we were told that it repelled AND killed ticks versus Frontline which just killed them (I am sure both would be sufficient at the end of the day).

We got a few months supply of Advantix however it seems to leave Khloe's fur greasy for 2-3 weeks where we apply it, so we are not a huge fan of this.

We are thinking about trying Vet Guard, so has anyone used it before? We can always go back to Frontline if need be.

Thanks for the help!

In my area of the US (the Northeast) people have found Frontline to be almost totally ineffective after just a few weeks--I did use it years ago and the fur was just as greasy with it as it is with the Advantix. Many in my area have had good luck with the  Seresto collar which costs $50 but lasts 8 months--it uses a time release method and leaves no residue. I have not tried it yet, but plan to.

I have switched to Nexgard for fleas and ticks and still use Heartgard for heartworms.  Both made by the same company.  They are both small square type "treats" that Bailey loves and gobbles right down..... it makes "medication time" very pleasant!  We live in the woods in southern Indiana.....lots of deer....no fleas or ticks on my Bailey!!

We use Nexguard for fleas and ticks, and Sentinel for heartworm prevention.  We used to use K9Advantix and Heartguard, but switched to avoid the topical application.  This new combination is much easier.
