I have a 1 yr old goldendoodle. She has BIG hair. How often do you guys get your doodle trimmed?

Oski starts to have little mats that I can brush out once his hair gets around 4 inches but then I'm brushing him daily so I suspect that we'll also be getting his hair cut every 4 months or so--he's 15 mo now & he's had 2 haircuts so far--one in the summer & one in the fall. I'm waiting another month or so before I cut him again because it's been in the 30's here. FYI: if you think your dood has BIG hair, you should see Oski right after I brush him, he looks like a cross between Einstein & Don King, LOL

My youngest doodle ( who is the only one that needs grooming) went to the groomer for the first time when he was 5-6 months old. After that I did all of the grooming on my own.

Because he's a therapy dog I have to bathe him about every two weeks so he is clean for visits.
I only trim his body twice in the summertime.
However, I trim around his face every few weeks. And I trim between his paw pads every 2-3 months.
I also trim around his behind every couple of months to keep him from getting too messy back there and growing dingleberries and clingons ;-)
Your doodle is so cute!!

Dexter is a F1B labradoodle and will matt. We take him approximately every 3-4 months for a cut. We don't do trims...we go for a drastic cut because our groomer charges the same for a trim or a drastic cut (he'll go from 3 inches to 1/4 of an inch). His hair grows so fast and getting him groomed is expensive :)
Same here................f1b doodle too.
a true teddy bear from the Toy factory :-) she is lovely!
She is darling. I really love the legs.
I think she is gorgeous - I would be reluctant to cut her if you can keep her matt free - maybe just trimmed at the eyes!!
Luckily my dood is a soft curl so he doesn't mat. If I don't groom daily she looks a bit rastifarian which is a cool look. I groom Higgins about 3 times a week with a comb and often times he just falls asleep. The two areas I have a hard time grooming are his tail and his front forepaws. Other than that pretty easy. He gets groomed three times a year. I shear him, like a sheep for the summer, (around Memorial Day) as it gets 100 degrees here in Sacramento. Then I let his fur grow out and do a minor groom in September and February. In between cuts I take him for sanitation cuts and baths and after any boarding. I also will trim around the eyes myself as necessary.
Is that what it is called? soft curl? Jordan has never had a mat.
Join us on Doodle Grooming for lots of good info!
Rozee has fleese coat and gets groomed about every 4 months because her coat is very easy to manage. Bella has a wool coat and mats if we even look at it so she gets groomed - and kept pretty short - about every 5-6 weeks.
As long as my two do not get mats I will not take them to a groomer. I have only had Daisy groomed once...and never again.
