Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I had a previous discussion (Ace has been caught!) but the updates to add pictures was getting so long. These are pictures from Tues and some from today. Marco is doing incredibly well. He enjoys playing with toys, sleeping in a dog bed and goes willingly into his crate as well. While he does seem happy to be in a home, he is also still very frightened of most people and men in particular. He is very comfortable with me and is getting to know my daughter but if she moves too fast, he is frightened.
We took a short walk on a leash today and while he did not try to get away from me, I could tell he was very nervous. The smallest sound scares him yet inside the house he seems very comfortable with normal household noises. He is not frightened by my blow dryer, the coffee grinder or the blender. I sooo wish he had a "black box" like airplanes do so we could find out his story!
We have not made any decisions regarding his future yet. We are considering all our options and taking our time so as to make the right decision.
He is the sweetest Doodle! He wags his tail at me and has even given me a few kisses. It is so hard to believe that this is the same dog that was so determined to stay away from everyone even in the freezing cold. I have no previous experience with rescue so maybe this is normal, I just don't know. He has surely stolen the hearts of a lot of people!

He is absolutely gorgeous. It will take lots of time to acclimate him to being a beloved pet, knowing that his family will take care of him. It sounds like he is on his way and that you are doing a great job. He has the most beautiful face. Thank you again for persevering so long in order to capture him and ultimately save his life.
Elizabeth and I are just trying to figure out what we will do with ourselves from now on. No more nights out hiding in the bushes in the freezing cold. The real "Ace", wherever he may be, saved this dogs life!
Love this face! And the one of him cozy in his bed. His life depended on paying attention to sounds for so long that it doesn't seem surprising that he's nervous outside. It doesn't look like he wants to go back to that life but sounds like he wasn't used to men or his experience with men was not a good one.
There were a lot of construction workers in the neighborhood that probably were not kind to him. We also heard stories of him being chased by young boys riding in golf carts.
Thanks for the wonderful photos! It sounds like Marco wants to trust and love and be loved and he's going to blossom under the wonderful care of his rescuers! Such a handsome boy! You guys are the BEST!!
Thanks Ricki! We got a visit from Elizabeth (Bailey & Bruin) today. I wouldn't say he "played" with them but he certainly did not have a problem with them. I think he is on his way to becoming a wonderful dog!
He's SUCH a beautiful doodle! I'm struck by how much more relaxed and confident his face looks already, in comparison to that long, sad doodle face from your first update. Amazing, and proof of how much love and care you're giving him! How is he doing with your doodle girls, and they with him? Is that Pippa that he's towering over? :) Looks like he was having fun!
That is Pippa. She seems to be just what he needs. She loves to play and she gets him engaged whether he wants to or not. She runs circles around him in the yard until he finally joins in the game of chase. Daphne is good too but she gives up sooner than Pippa.
He is a real sweetheart! Its just gonna take a little time.
Can anyone link me to the back story on this dog?
