So guys I have some bad news! Wrigley has a bladder infection :-( he is 11 weeks old. Has anyone went through this before? I feel so bad for him because I've had my fair share of them myself and they SUCK! I almost wonder if thats why he could never get comfortable sleeping and would moan and groan, get up and do it all over again! I wish I knew when he actually got it too! He drinks constantly and always has ever since I got him he's drank a lot and couldn't ever really hold it to long.

I just gave him his first pill of antibiotics. He is on a 7 day antibiotic and will get retested.

Good info Nicky.

At this time the most likely focus would not be food but one of the more common causes, such as E Coli ( poop contaminating the urethra)

Urinary tract infections are usually caused by bacterial infections. Infections often occur if the puppy is unable to urinate for a long period of time, and the urine sits in the bladder and breeds bacteria. The bladder and urethra become infected and inflamed, resulting in a urinary tract infection. The most common bacteria causing urinary tract infections are Escherichia Coli, Candida Albicans and Streptococcus Enterococcus. Urinary tract infections may also be caused by bacteria in the kidneys, a fungal infection or a virus.

I was reading that some foods can promote urinary tract infections. Maybe do a search for the brand with uti in the query and see what you find. But, maybe he came to you with the bladder infection too? Gracie had a bacterial infection on her abdomen that is typical for puppies.

Diamond is rubbish food. There are also lots of people who swear by Hills or Eukenuba too Lol The best advice on Dog food is right here in the Food Group on DK. Unbiased, scientific and factual.

The main forum is not the place to discuss food related issues.  The food group has all the information you need to help you pick out what is best for your dog.  The other groups that you may want to look at are the Health group and the Puppy group.

Many times there is more focused information in the groups and the members have specific knowledge (as opposed to the general outlook of the main forum).

The Food Group is great wonderful!  And I support it and recommend it to anyone who needs help with dog food issues.  However, it is perfectly allowed for anyone to discuss food elsewhere on this site.  It is not required that people only discuss food in The Food Group.  Just wanted to make that clear.  The main forum is okay, other groups are okay too.
