Hi everyone, my mom sprayed my puppy with some perfume without asking (she thought it would make him smell nice and less doggy like), and it's a horrible smell that I can't stand. I don't know what to do. Will a simple bath remove the smell, or is there a special remedy? Any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to give him an unnecessary bath since he already had one last week.

Bath is all I can think of--but dilute the shampoo with water--1 part shampoo to 2 parts water...(you should always do that anyway...)

I would try a bath first too but if perfume is as tough to get out of dog hair as it is clothing...:( Another idea, if that doesn't work might be to try Nature's Miracle Skunk Odor Remover. I've used it on a dog that had an encounter with a skunk and it worked very well. Actually, I used it on myself too! :(  It cuts through oil and that is the issue that needs to be addressed with perfume too. It is a spray on and allow to dry product.  Good luck!

Feminine Hygiene products usually get odors like skunk out.

On a different note... I read this title as 'Puppy got spayed with a stinky perfume' and I was like...

o_o ?

I would use baking soda diluted in water to neutralize the odor.

Sounds like something my mother would do. I would give as many baths as it took to get it off his skin and coat. Less worries about the bathing than the chemicals and stink of perfume on my guys.  I wouldnt think your puppy is liking the smell much either.
