Do any of you have a puppy you adopted from a singleton litter or did any of you pass on a puppy from a singleton litter? If so, why?  If you have a singleton pup, have you experienced any issues with your puppy?  Did your breeder take any special steps to socialize or care for your puppy?

Most breeders I know that have a singleton will attempt to "borrow" similarly aged pups from another mom to give that pup some siblings to grow up with or I've even seen them borrow pups from another breeder.

After talking to our vet and the breeder at length, we have decided that the best option for us is moving on to waiting for another litter with a different sire and dam that have similar characteristics through the same breeder.  We feel good about it after weighing all the factors.  The breeder was great and very helpful.  The vet strongly encouraged us to select a different dog.  So in the end if all goes well, we are looking at hopefully having a new puppy soon but just not the puppy we expected!

That's exactly what I did, and I don't regret it at all. My Bonnie is one of 6 and she is wonderful. The timing was not quite as good, I had timed certain events in my life to fit with the new puppy and then as he was not the one for us, we had to wait, and so a few life events did not fit quite as well (an overseas trip for an important family event being the most major thing, and Bonnie is too young to leave with kennels, but we sorted that. My adult daughter will come and live in here)

So....keep us posted on when your new pup is due!
