Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Jackdoodle had his annual exam today. The total bill was $371. You'd think I would no longer be shocked by that, but I always am, lol.
I thought it would be interesting to hear how these prices compare to other vets around the country. (I'm in the Northern suburbs of Chicago).
Here's the breakdown:
Annual exam- 38.00
Fecal parasite screening- 28.00
Bordatella vaccine (intranasal)- 37.00
3-Year Rabies shot- 65.00
County Rabies tag fee- 18.00
Heartworm test- 45.00
Titer for Distemper/Parvo- 86.00
Hazardous waste disposal- 3.00
(The additional 51.00 was for a B12 injection and Tramadol, which would of course not apply to most dogs.)
Hopefully this made some of you feel better, either because your vets charge less or because you were smart enough to get pet insurance. :)

These prices don't sound too bad at all.
My vet apparently charges more for a three year rabies shot than any other vet in the country, lol.
maybe you can show him these responses and ask why his is so "special?" maybe he needs a new supplier if he's paying too much and passing it along. Or maybe he is marking up what the traffic will bare until someone (you) questions it with good information like this.
:)
Our vets have just brought in a new scheme. For 12 dollars a month you get as many vet visits as needed, all boosters and one full blood panel. The only thing not covered is drugs. I am definitely taking it as it is a great deal and they are terrific vets.
That does sound like a great deal!
Many physicians are doing this too--it is like joining a "club"--once you are in, you get perks...good idea!
I think my bet charges more--I have to take Rio next week for some of these same things and will check it out!
Let us know!
I just took Hanna to the vet last week, her bill broke down as follows:
Heartworm Test 4DX $50
3yr Rabies Vaccine $30
DA2PP (3 yr) + Lepto #1 Comb $45
Injectable Bordetella $25
Heartgard Plus Brown Chewables $50
Wellness Exam no charge
Total $200
