Today's the day!! FINALLY :) In just a few short hours we will have our little furbaby home :) We got her two kong chew toys, one red and one black, and I was just wondering what your doodles like you to fill them with??? I'm really regretting not getting the Kong filling paste cause now I have no clue at all what to put it in for her! Help :/

Exciting! I suggest peanut butter for the kongs. No need to buy the filling paste. I would always use natural peanut butter, nothing with added sugar or reduced fat or anything like that. :)

Just as a FYI...be very careful in the beginning, different treats. These little guys digestive systems can be very delicate and you both will suffer for it. ;)
We have the small black Kong and we fill it with her kibble, chunks of cheese ,and pieces of Turkey lunch meat. Mostly kibble. When they're super young you have to make it crazy easy for them. Initially I tried to put peanut butter and kibble in it and she stopped trying. Our girl still hasn't learned to pick it up and drop it and her jaw isn't strong enough to crush the contents but she's only three month old. Most meal times I feed her exclusively from her Kong. The mental exercise is invaluable.
Frozen PB is our favorite :)

Don't change anything in the puppy's diet for at least two weeks and I don't believe the Kong treats are on our recommended list so no worries about not having any of their paste stuff. Peanut butter mixed with plain greek yogurt and a little kibble and frozen inside the Kong is one of our favorite recipes for when the time comes, though!

I will second the idea of plain greek yogurt frozen in the kong. It is still my 16 month old dog's bedtime snack.

Me too. And you can mix in a bit of her current kibble in there with the yogurt. She may not even like the kong at first; Ripley had no interest until he was a bit older. As I remember, Ripley liked his stuffed toys best at first (and then I couldn't give those to him cause he is too destructive a ripper - I didn't intend his name that way!) Small antlers are great, too. Training for pea sized treats, chewing, social outings/visits, and walks on leash in the yard were enough to keep him busy and tired early on. Enjoy the puppy sweetness ;)

I wouldn't do anything for two weeks to make sure that if there are any digestion problems, you haven't created them with foods/treats she isn't used to.

at first we only used the food he was on.  I agree with other posters, you want to ease into the 'new' treats as it can upset their tummies.

I, still at 2 years of age, fill the kong with his kibble and put a small broken piece of milk bone treat on the top.

I have seen on Pinterest, you can wet the kibble and freeze it the night before.

Is your pup a large one? She may not be able to get the red or black one in her mouth.  We are a mini dood and started with the blue puppy kong. It allowed him to be able to crunch it to get the treats out.

congrats on your new baby!!
