I've wanted to do this for a loooong time.  I think perhaps next year might finally be the time to try it out.

My town, Walla Walla, Washington is way on the other side of the country from many of you.  But it's a quaint town with culture and a bazillion excellent wineries.

So I was thinking...it might be fun to host the first annual Doodle Kisses National Doodle Romp here.  Super convenient for me, but would any of you travel for it?  After next year we can move it around to different locations.

How many of you would drive over with your doodle(s)?

How many of you would fly over doodle-less?

How many of you are thinking "No way, crazy lady!"?

If enough people are interested...I can get started planning.  I would most likely aim for May when the local wineries host their Spring Release or June when they do some other thing or another.  BUT that means it would be crowded and hotels booked long in advance.

We have the option of a dog park in College Place (the neighboring town) and there is a nice park next to it.  So we could meet at that park and then those that want to let their dogs off leash could meander over there.  The park has benches so we conceivably have a picnic or get catering.

What sounds best to others?  Would you prefer a more out of the way park without an official dog park?  A hike/walk?  Take over downtown and visit wineries?

2/19: UPDATE:  I was going with the tentative date of June 9/10 with the option to stay the whole weekend for those who want to, but no official plans for the weekend.  That seems to conflict with one member who REALLY wants to make it.  So now I'm looking at June 23/24.  The previous week is Spring Release weekend for local wineries and while that doesn't actually conflict with us, it might be really crowded.  Please argue with me over this if you need to.  I don't mind.

Great idea, Lynda

Great idea, but I live on the east coast.  Would love to see pics.

I'm in Florida, so it's unlikely that us humans & doodles in the family would be able to make that trip, together or just humans.

Would love it but just too far to travel with doodle in tow.  It's a great idea, though!

We would most likely make the Romp with Enzo in tow! We would be happy doing any or ALL of the above!

As mentioned before we would bring our kids up.....just need to confirm a date.....It is about a 12-15 hour drive from
Northern CA, but it is wan easy drive and you can stop in Bend, OR and there are many pet friendly hotels....Have many friends in Walla Walla, and it would be fun to take over the town for a weekend of Doodles. Ted and Reba would love the attention....OK ted would Reba is really a two person dog......she just stays close to us, but Ted is the friendly one, loves people and is the greeter at the dog park...any dog park!

I have always wanted to rent an RV and drive up the coast. I only have to convince my husband that that's a great idea.

We are far from the coast, but at least you'd get to see the California and some of the Oregon coast!

We would love to be part of this. We are about 4 hours from Walla Walla

I would love to come. I live in Olympia. My puppy was just born last week(very excited!) so should be perfect age next year. If I had a choice I would prefer  out of way park and/or downtown(if dogs are allowed). Thanks for considering this idea.

We live 2 hours away and think it would be great for all of us that can travel

there. over night or for the day. Looking forward to see what comes of it.

GREAT IDEA!  We would put it on our calendar as soon as a date gets set.

My thoughts.

Setting the date sooner rather than later would work best for us so that we don't get other stuff planned.

This is on our side of the country so that makes it easy for us. I know we might not be able to drive the distance to the Midwest or East Coast so planning future events in different parts of the country is a good idea.

Since we are retired the date doesn't matter, but those with kids might need it to be when school was out?

We would be driving our RV so would need campground info. Probably there are others using the same mode of travel.

Could the event encompass several days and several different activity options so we could have more chances to meet each other?
