Puppy haircut

Hey all,

How old was your baby when they got their first hair cut? Moose is a large black fluffy doodle who is struggling in the warm weather but he's only 3months old and in my opinion doesn't have too much fur but he literally never stops panting. Loki didn't seem overly bothered until around 5months. Is three months too young for a hair cut? I love his puppy fuzz so I don't know what to do.

Sorry Jessica can't help you yet....Kobe just turned 5 months and hasn't had a haircut, thought probably will need one soon...I agree it is scary because the whole family loves his furriness!! I think the most important thing is to find someone who will do the cut as per YOUR wishes....good luck!!!

Our puppy Angus is also pretty panty and hot. We started practicing grooming activities early. If you're going to a groomer ...the earlier the better. They can trim and do a few other things the first few times, but Moose will have to get used to being handled for grooming activities. We're shaving Angus down next week because he's just too hot. Don't worry. ..hair grows back :)

We got Ned at 4 months and had him groomed right away.  We wanted to get him used to going to our groomer.  I don't think she did much at first.

Ok thanks guys! Maybe I will wait another month or so then. He is very used to brushing and ear cleaning and teeth cleaning becaus I do that at home for him and Loki so I hope that counts for something at the groomers! Here's a picture of him though- with his puppy fro!

Awe. Adorable! Gracie has been going to the groomers for the last 4 months. She does great for them, but not for me. Her look is a bit more scruffy and not even. She has longer hair around her lower legs and paws. That's why I decided to get her trimmed in addition to the hair in her paws and her nails needed trimmed. Which I could do - too afraid that I would hurt her, so was only try it the very tips.
She is 7 months now.

Aaawww he's super cute!  Cooper's first hair cut was around 4 months old, so you can wait another month.  I also like the longer coat, so his second grooming about over a month later, we asked for a sanitary trim.  We told the groomer we don't want his coat trim, just a little around the facial and paws.
