I did the calculations (hopefully correctly) of the food cost per day of a few of the most popular brands. Happy Valentine's Day!

Yeah :)  That's the way I look at it.  Luna loves her Acana and she eats for less than $10/week... I can easily spend that buying one lunch at work.

I know, it almost makes me feel bad that I'm spending so little on Oliver's food! My Starbucks is basically 2x his whole day...

I just did this as well since I was trying to find a new food! I even went into the different varieties and finding an average between each brand! I can share all this info if you want, but it was for a 60 lb puppy and 14 lb adult. I was shocked to see that Acana costs more per day to feed my two dogs than Orijen. I still picked Acana to feed becasue I like rotating the varieties, with Orijen the cost goes up a lot per day with the Regional Red and 6 fish in there!

I feed Chance Blue Buffalo grain free puppy formula.  It is on the DK recommended list, but also at the lower end of the price range.  Only 1 penny more than Purina junk food!

Here is the info I did. This is for a 60lb puppy in the 4-12 month category on goldendoodles.com. I also used an average of cost from Wag.com and Petflow.com, depending on the site you might have to pay tax or shipping and that is not included in the price for the cost comparison.

If you feed a rotation of these 4, average cost per day is $2.65.

Acana Chicken and Burbank Potato: $2.17

If you feed a rotation of the three adult formulas the average cost per day is $2.79

Sarah, these numbers were figured for a 40 lb adult dog. For a puppy, you'd have to plug in different numbers. They're based on the weight of the dog as well as the calorie content of the food, and the size and price of the bag.
