Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Good Afternoon,
A Facebook friend of mine has a friend who has to find a new home for their 2.5 year old spayed labradoodle. I do not know the person but thought I would share this information with this group. Here is her photo and description. If you are interested, please let me know and I will put you in touch with the family.

Nancy, please advise your friend that the safest way for her to rehome Lucy is to contact one of the doodle rescue groups, IDOG or DRC, to assist with Lucy's rehome. Here are the links: IDOG: http://idogrescue.com/rescue/
DRC: http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_REHOME_GUIDELINES
The owners should also contact the breeder if they purchased her from a reputable breeder.
It is simply not safe for them to try to rehome her themselves on social media, especially "free to good home". The people who use these dogs for horrible purposes are very, very good at fooling people, and they look for "free to good home" dogs full time. There needs to be a rigorous screening process in place, to be sure that she goes to a good, experienced home with references, as well as a safety net to ensure that she doesn't get passed from home to home, or end up in a shelter, a testing lab, or as a bait dog. She deserves better than that.
Yes, I have already given her the info for DRC and I will forward info for IDOG. My friend assured me that her friend would never just give the dog away to a stranger or a shelter :) Thank you for your concern. I was hoping someone here would know someone who could give Lucy a forever home :)

How sad for the family and the poor dog. :( I hope they find her a loving forever home and she never has to go through this again.
Hi Nancy,
I'm in Massachusetts and I'd be very interesting in talking more to your friend's friend about her doodle. We have an 19 month Labradoodle, 3 young children, and a big fenced in yard. We are looking to add another doodle to our family and want it to be a doodle that needs a loving home.
Let me know if you'd like to connect so I can give you my info to pass on. Thanks so much!
Hi Kerri.....I will check right now on Lucy. I am in Auburn, are you in Shrewsbury??
Hi Nancy,
Yes, I'm in Shrewsbury so we're so close to each other. Is Lucy in Auburn as well? I'm excited to learn more about her. Thanks so much for getting back to me. :)
Also, your dogs are beautiful! Where did you get them?
Hi Kerri.....Lucy is not in Auburn, not sure where but I did contact my Facebook friend and I'm waiting to hear back from her. I got both of my dogs from Oceanstate Labradoodles. Oliver is 4 and Ivy is 13 weeks. I knew as soon as Oliver grew up that we would definitely get another from the same breeder. When we got Oliver, we had a nine year old cockapoo, Kasey and she passed in February. I love having 2, it is great for both the dogs and us :) Love your dog too, where is he from?
I'm so sorry about your Kasey. Losing a beloved pet is like losing a family member. We had a Goldendoodle who we lost suddenly almost 2 years ago, she was our first baby. :( Despite having 3 small children our home felt so empty without her here. We got Tuukka from Snug Harbor Labradoodles in Duxbury. He's a great boy, especially with the kids! He loves to play with other dogs so we're excited to begin looking for another.
Both of your doodles are so cute, I looked at the OSL website often when we were looking for a puppy but their litters are always full so far out and we just couldn't wait so long for another dog I our home. They do have such beautiful ALD's!
Thanks so much for contacting your friend, I'm looking forward to hearing more.
I just heard from my friend and she said she will check to see if Lucy is still available and get back to me so I will let you know as soon as I hear something. Yes, when we made the decision to put Kasey down (she was 14), although we missed her deeply, coping was alot easier with having Oliver around. I just love the temperament of most all ALD's and know that as long as we have dogs, they will always be ALD's. Stefani from OSL is great, we are in touch with her all the time and love when she holds reunions. We have met 2 of Oliver's littermates and coincidently, Oliver is Ivy's half uncle, which was not planned. Will get back to you as soon as I have more information on Lucy. Also, I would love to set up a play date with our dogs if you are interested :)
Hi Kerri.....I just heard back about Lucy and they think they have found a friend of a friend who is going to give her a home. If for some reason, it doesn't go through, I will let you know. Aww....too bad for you but good for Lucy. Let me know if you would like to have a play date with the dogs :)
