Oh no, another dog who gets poison oak.  Right now both Zeppo and Harpo have poison oak and I have no idea where they got it.  We were out on the bike tow leashes at Ft. Ord last week and I have walked them around our block but always on leash.  We also were out at Moss Landing and all three dogs were on leash.  Laila does not have poison oak but both the boys do.  They must have come in contact with it somewhere.  So, it is cool baths with baking soda and daily washes with Tecnu and then sprays with anti-itch medications.  It is a little better today and they were not itching all night last night.

I feel for them.

Give them some benedryl as well. They will feel better.

I am so sorry, Lynda.  I think you are one reason we try NOT to take our guys on trails!  :-}

Having just recovered from a bad case of Poison Ivy, I really sympathize.

I think it is possible to get poison oak if it is being burned and the wind blows it in your direction.  Maybe that is what happened in this case?  Just saying.....  I hope they heal soon.

Yes, with the fires all over the place, that is a very good possibility but there have been no fires around here that I know of.  The last time that I had "internal" poison oak, I got it that way.  I went out on the deck to look for where the fire was and got it from the wind.  They are doing much better now and the Tecnu and baking soda have worked pretty well.  It is inside the ear flaps (and on the penis) that drives them nuts.

Poor dogs...hope you can figure out where this happened, so you can avoid that place in the future.
