Collar/Leash for puppy

Any recommendations for what collar/leash to start with? I've read that nylon is better to prevent matting but not sure where to start with a little puppy. We will get our golden doodle mini in a few weeks and she'll be 9 wks old. If anyone had any thoughts I'd welcome them :) This site has been really helpful as I prepare for her arrival!

That is so cute!  I will have to keep an eye on Clancy next time.  Last month (our first romp) I was pretty overwhelmed seeing all the doodles!

I ordered Jaxson a bright blue collar with green bones.  (And matching leash, no decorations.)  Can't wait for them to arrive!

I LOVE the hydro collars Kaitlin mentioned, Nancy Ned and Clancy had recommended then in the ring around the collar group and I ordered several and just rotate them out when one needs to be cleaned, I had talked to the owner (she used pictures of the boys for her Instagram and marketing :) ) and you just clean then with regular dish soap. I also have martingale collars from mimigreen.com with their names and my number engraved on the buckle. Great great quality for both companies and very friendly staff.

I would recommend an Easy Walk Harness as well. I could not say enough good things about that, it really helps stop the pulling on a leash and it takes all the pressure off their necks. Even though my oldest doesn't pull I use the easy walk when we are out because he is large and this gives me more control of him for whatever may come up.

For leashes I have two I love. I have a basic flat leash with a built in traffic handle so I can keep them right by me if needed, I use 4ft leashes. My most favorite though is from Iron Doggy, http://irondoggy.com/products/sidekick-hands-free-leash . It's made to be a runners leash but I use it for everything except training or therapy dog visits. It's basically a giant bungee cord attached to a hands free belt. Great quality and well worth the price. Their customer service is absolutely amazing as well! I have two of the leashes clipped on to one belt so I just put the belt on my and clip the boys to me and off we go! This leash also has a handle and traffic handle if needed.

I tried that leash and my dog bit through it. I wish it had worked because I don't like her pulling at her neck.  My biggest problem is her strong pulling when ever anyone walks by. She is super friendly and wants everyone's attention.

Lately I have been spraying her with plain water in the face it works for a second or 2 and starts lunging again. Need Help!!

Which leash? I never leave the leashes on them when I'm not walking them so I don't think mine have had a chance to chew them. For pulling as soon as one of my guys pulls I stop walking immediately and make them sit, and then we start again and let me tell you it took forever to get anywhere at first but now they walk great, hope that helps!

I agree with getting a basic collar and leash until 4 or 5 months old. My mini golden doodle would bite thru any cloth leash in about 2seconds flat. You would't even know she was chewing on it because

she was so quiet.  Finally went for a 6ft leather leash and it has been great. Not sure what a hydro collar does. Have fun with your new baby.

Hydro collars are waterproof/stink proof. But they almost glide across the fur so if your dog is prone to matting under their collar these are a life saver! They are also extremely durable so that's nice to have a collar without faded colors.
