I said I would never do this, but currently thinking we need another doodle. Lol

Gracie will be turning 1 yr old in just a few days. I am thinking about getting another puppy - I think I might be stepping over the edge here as I remember Gracie's puppy days and they were horrendous! Ok, they weren't that bad, but I remember feeling like I was going to lose my mind some days. ;)
She's still puppyish and has some fine tuning work to do.
One reason we would like another is because she's so darn smart. She loves to hang out with us and is doing well keeping within her boundaries in the yard. Another reasons is that she likes to play with our other dog, but with him being a mini schnoodle at 14lbs and 8 yrs old, he really doesn't enjoy all of her antics. :D

I know we won't get a Gracie clone and I don't want one. I want one that is a little more of cuddler and gentle. Now I might not get that either. Lol I'm going to talk to the breeder and see what her thoughts are.
The other part of the equation is that I've returned to work and am working over 30 hours a week right now. Which really isn't a lot when you think about it, but it's a lot when it comes to training a new puppy. This winter it will slow down and I would have more time to spend with the puppy.

I have been reading the multiple dog board here and did some research on training a puppy while working. So there is a lot to think about.
Just wondering how crazy this idea is!

No problem! It's a good group, I haven't looked at it in a bit but I remember reading through lots of the discussions after I had put a deposit down for Moose to get ready!
Thanks for the input. We did go see puppies and talked to the breeder about what our needs are. I still have some things to think about as far as how to swing it all. Most days my husband works from home, so he could let the puppy out every hour or so and let it have some run around time. However, some days he works out of the home and it might not correlate with my days off. So, we would be in a predicament as we don't live in an area where there are dog walkers. I might be able to ask my MIL to stop by on those days. I don't work close enough to home to come home for lunch either. So, like I said, I don't know. The only good thing is that the job I have slows down here in a few months where I might only be working a few days a week.
Lots of good thoughts. I did think about double the expense. Which would actually triple since we do have the schnoodle. Trying to imagine another 80 lb brute lying beside me on the couch... Hmmm. Didn't think of that. Walking could be a problem too.
Again food for thought! Thanks!

Doodles are very energetic so get ready for lots of walks.  And they do come in all sizes these days.  We have a 55-lb ALD and a 30-lb. Jackapoo.  Take your time and you will find the right dog for you.

Loki is around 85-90lbs and Moose at 8months is about 75lbs so we don't always fit on a couch but they are the best cuddle bums on cold days :)
We have two, but ours are litter mate brothers so there were always together - no problems with introductions or acceptance. We also have a very large back yard where they run, play and tussle to expend all that energy. I find that even long walks doesn't expend the energy like play time in the yard chasing balls and wrestling with each other does. My guys are super company for each other. I can't imagine what it would be like to only have one!

We always have at least two dogs as they are so dependent on each other and get so depressed when they are alone.  It didn't seem to be that way before doodles, but when our first doodle died, the second doodle was beside himself with grief, hence another doodle.  I prefer dogs to be spaced about three years (but I also prefer children spaced a few years), and that way you can enjoy each dog's puppyhood.  Yes, it is hard with a baby and a toddler, so you will have to figure that one out. You know what training is like, so use your best judgment.  We definitely would recommend another doodle.  In fact, I have a sheepadoodle due next summer and can't wait for another puppy.

So, then will you have 3 doodles?

We just got a second doddle! He is no Bodhi but he is such a cute and wonderful addition to our family!! The training has been easier because Otis just does whatever Bodhi does. It is quite cute.

Enjoy...they both look like sweethearts.

Ditto.
Awe. Cuties!

We never though Daisy would like another dog in her house, we were so wrong. t took a while for Daisy to accept her foster brother (about 2 weeks) but when she did there was no going back. Dexter adopted, Mom a foster failure.
