Coat change?

So, my little Nola has been shedding little cotton bits for 4 weeks now. It started as this odd line down her back of different colored fur (darker & felt different). Now, she looks like wild orphan with this crazy hair! Is her coat changing? She is 4.5 months so I'm not sure if it is too early for that or if age varies with coat changes.

My Dex did the same and it continued on and off for the first year. I look back at pictures and I didn't even realize at the time how bad his coat looked. I would say the worst was from 5-7 months.

Oh what a cutie! My older guy shed on-off until a little past 1 year old and then he stopped shedding, I would say I noticed him actually going through a coat change from around 7months up untill 11months. My puppy is almost 9months and I can tell that his adult coat is growing in and the mats are crazy right now! With every doodle it's different though, they all have different coats. I know there are some people on here that have even noticed that past getting their adult coat the dog had gone through yet another coat change. I think typically doodles start to loose their puppy coat around 5-7months- I could be wrong though, I thought I remember seeing that somewhere.

5-7 months makes sense then, I just re-counted weeks & she is 19weeks (5 months old next Saturday). A family friend has a puppy from the same breeder and theirs has this full fluffy straight coat. We joke that Nola looks homeless next to her. But, we love her regardless!

Oh that's funny! They do look goofy at that age! My guys both looked like they hadn't grown into their legs lol

Our Benny is exactly the same. 4.5 months with crazy, "mad-scientist" fluff, and a darker strip of more normal wavy hair down his back. Would love to hear if this gets better.

Hadley started shedding her coat at just about 4 1/2 months.  Her back looked like she was shedding it odd clumps, but I think it was just that her fur was getting a little wavier back there.  I remember being pretty freaked out thinking she was going to end up a huge shedder.  I even took her to the vet to be sure she didn't have something else going on because her breeder was surprised by it given her age.  It went on for maybe a month plus.  And it did grow back in pretty quickly.  She has not "shed" since.  She is a year old now.  Good luck!!!
