Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone. I've lurked on this group & enjoyed reading discussions for about 6 months now & decided to join now that I have a Goldendoodle puppy arriving soon! I've always owned Labs in the past and not that long ago lost my 9 yr old 109 lb. yellow lab to a very rare invasive tumor. He was my Marmaduke for sure!  All my past dogs have lived to a ripe old age, so this was my first experience of losing a furbaby before his time.

I live in WV on the Tygart Valley River so I've already stocked up on grooming supplies and a good blow dryer thanks to reading the suggestions on the forum!  I can throw a rock from my porch to the river so I expect to have a fun time keeping this guy clean. LOL!  I have to admit me and my husband might be a bit nuts because our doodle will be here before the New Year and then we have a black lab puppy arriving about a month later.  It won't be my first two puppy at the same time rodeo, but it will be my first time of having one pup about a month before the second pup arrives & one of those pups being a Doodle. Oh and both puppies are boys which I've always done a boy & a girl. I've always done two at the same time. I must be getting old & losing my memory because I vaguely remember saying something like "I will never get two pups at the same time again". Haha! I'm a glutton for punishment. (Actually it wasn't that bad).

For now, the only pic of my doodle is my profile pic with his mom. I'm lucky enough to have a slew of pics from his birth until now but I read the post on helping to keep the forum pics file size down and I want to reduce the image sizes on my pics before posting or use my external photo account & youtube for videos after I get more familiar with the forum. I know I'll be posting more here once he gets home. Just a warning that if I start blubbering, everyone will know both puppies have arrived. Hehehe..

It will be exciting to see if he doodles up or not, I loved his face and personality. He wasn't the pup with the most curls or the V everyone talks about & it was very hard to choose between him and a couple other pups that were much more doodled already. I was 4th on the list of seven pups so I had four pups to choose from & he was the least curly of them all. His name will be Macduff aka Duffy and he is an F1b Goldendoodle. I'm happy that I found what looks like a wonderful group of Doodle owners! :)

Welcome to DK Patty and congratulations on your new "baby"!!!!   MacDuff is a cutie!     You are brave to do the 2 puppy thing....but as a mother of twins....(they're nearly 36 now!)....you'll be getting all the hard stuff over with basically at the same time.    Looking forward to seeing and hearing about your adventures!

Thanks for the welcome Carol! I love Banjo's color! I came a hair away from picking a darker curlier puppy that looked similar to Banjo. I was just drawn to Duffy and I have no explanation why.  Here he is at two weeks old and just opened his eyes for the first time. He has already lost the white strip of fur going up his nose, he looks more uniform in color now. My profile pic shows him at 4 weeks old.

Awwww.....what a cutie!    I always get excited for those counting down the days til their puppy comes home.   We still talk about how much fun all that planning and anticipation was!

Welcome to DK. Adorable pup.

Duffy is adorable.  I can't wait to see some more pics of him.  Do upload pictures - just not 27 of the same thing!  Sharing our photos is one of the things that makes this site special.

Hi Patty ~ OMD - Macduff is so cute.  I can see why you fell in love with that face!  Looking forward to hearing your crazy stories about have two puppies - it will be fun to live that through you.  I had never had two dogs at one time in my life - always just the family dog. About 2 years after we our first doodle, we got doodle #2.  Some days I probably did want to pull my hair out (haha), but on  whole it has been so much fun. Do not be concerned about downloading photos.  There are many of us that have been downloading photos for several years and some of us even had over 1,000 on our pages and they needed some housecleaning.  I am trying to keep my photos to about 100 - give or take a few!  LOL  Welcome to this site

Oh my, what a  cutie he is..I love his name too!!!!..I can't imagine having two pups at one time, although we had two dogs many times, but not as puppies...You are going to just love this site, I know u said u have been lurking, and reading up on things..Great idea, I think that the people on this site are like family, we all care deeply for one another and our dogs...so welcome Patty & sweet boy McDuff..can't wait to hear the wonderful stories you will be telling us about the two new pups...Oh my, I can smell the puppy breath here in florida...

Welcome Patty. I'm fairly new to this site too and definitely new to "Doodledom". You'll be a great Doodle parent even if you have a second puppy coming soon. Might as well raise 2 dogs at the same time. I've had 2 puppies at once, altho not that close in age. Have fun with housebreaking and all the chewing. The two furchen (furry children) will be best friends when they grow up! Your little one is SO cute and what a cool name!

Thank you alI for the warm welcome! I'm busy putting my tree up right now but a little later when I take a break I'm going to go through and look at all your furbabies too. I love looking at all the doodles and their brothers and sisters. I've spent all day trying to dig out my old box of training ornaments I always have used for my puppies. Ornaments that if they did get a hold of them, they are puppy safe ornaments.  I haven't had that box out in 9 years so it took a bit of digging to find it! I'll be leaving my tree up a bit longer, but my guess is they will probably be too young to care about the tree this year but I'm not taking any chances. I used to have a dog that was bubble nuts and I drove him crazy with clear glass bulbs on the tree. He would always try to pop them with his nose and never could figure out why he couldn't pop them. He'd sit for hours bouncing those ornaments with his nose trying to get them to pop.  He was about 2 when I retired the puppy ornaments and started using the glass bulbs again so he was already trained not chew ornaments or mess with the tree.

Thank goodness for this forum! What a wealth of information all in one place! We almost got two doodles from the same litter but I was a little afraid. I wasn't sure how much I was getting into as far as grooming & living right on the river. Had I not read this forum first, I probably wouldn't have even thought twice about it.  I was also afraid I'd miss the lab behaviors that I've grown to love over the years.  Getting a lab, I already knew what I was getting into and not much grooming there. I figured one of each they would compliment each other and still have a swimming buddy. I've really enjoyed reading everyone's doodle stories on here too! I've laughed out loud quite a few times while reading! lol

Welcome to DK, Patty!  Your MacDuff is adorable and a black lab puppy too!  Be still my heart.  You are probably crazy :) to have two at once, but it will be a lot of fun too!  Looking forward to your stories and photos.

What a cutie! Welcome!

Welcome, Patty!  Duffy is adorable, and I look forward to seeing more pictures when he's home, and with the new black lab puppy, too!  He'll be an honorary doodle, you know. :)
