Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Since we have an extra room in our new house in colorado we've decided to make it the doodle room. Our boys are going to officially get their own space. It has an ajoining bathroom so I'm going to set up my grooming table in the bedroom, I mean doodle room so I can wash them in the bath and then move them to the grooming station. All of their crates will be there when I have to run errands etc. 2 out of the 4 can sleep at night out of their crates but 2 I would worry about so we may have 2 extra crates upstairs. I don't want the boys sleeping away from us. So, if you had a 10x12 room for your doodles what would you do with it? Assuming you are putting 4 XL crates in it (we have 4 standards) and a grooming table, how would you arrange things? I'm thinking of putting all the crates on one wall and getting countertop on top to put grooming supplies, etc.
How would you decorate it?
I'm really excited to have all my dog things in one place.

Here is the room:

That's very cool!
It looks like there is variety in there (?)..if so I'd probably want to rip that off and put something down that can withstand more drips, mud, etc.

I would also want to get rid of the door and put up a tall gate or just the bottom half of the door so I could see in easily.

How will you use the room? When will dogs be in there?
CARPET not "variety"

I like Adina's suggestion of the half-door. That would also help them feel not so closed off from their family.I know I would decorate with some type of paw print border. Maybe a chair rail height paw print border and above that some cute prints of Doodles. Stephen Fowler has some cute Doodle artwork that would look nice in any room. Those are kind of pricey if you are buying a lot but shutterfly always has specials so you could print poster size photos of your pack and get some cheap poster frames to display fun moments.

We are getting tiled flooring in there. They will be in there when I'm grooming or when I have to run errands.
We have a spare bedroom. The dogs kinda took it over on their own; for day or night.

I like the idea of the half door so they don't feel like they're closed in the room.  If I go out I usually gate my guys rather than closing them in a room....but the half door would be even better.

Could you figure out a way to make the counter on top of the crates your grooming table? That way you wouldn't have to make room in their space to place the grooming table.  I'm thinking sort of like a workshop - and make sure the electrical outlets are right there and place one of those particle boards with holes in them on the wall to put hangers on for your clippers etc.

If I had a separate room, I would also put up hooks to hang the leashes up and drawers to put my bulk supplies of stuff like doggy bags, treats etc.

Awesome!! Lucky you and your doods!

Tile floor is a must.  Glad you are going to do it right away.
