OMG - he is so adorable. I would say he will be more flat coated. Good luck finding the flat coated doodle of your dreams!
Oh, yeah, that is a darling pup. He definitely looks retriever.
Thanks Lynda! My computer is having problems responding to your email for some reason!
Im just looking at the amount of fur on his cheeks as well as near the inner corner of his eyes. I don't think this pup will have the open face look. I could be wrong but, he does not look like my daughters Golden Retriever did as a pup.
I'm just curious about why you don't just go with a retriever. With a Doodle you can never be sure what will happen when they go through the "coat change". They are mixed breed dogs and there are no guarantees that how they look as puppies will be how they look as adults. If you know that you want your dog to look like a retriever the only sure way would be to "adopt" a retriever.
Hi Jane! My husband would prefer a mix. Even if they shed a bit, it will be less than a purebred Golden Retriever which i think is why we've been looking for a doodle!
One of my doodle's breeders has a dam that produces one to two flat coated pups in a litter. This is explained in detail on the upcoming litter pages. She is able to tell almost immediately if there is a pup that will have this attribute. There are always people on the waiting lists looking for the flat-coat. They really are cute. Here is a photo of one of her flat-coats:
I'll friend you and send you a message. :-)
I can't help, but i will say that your statement that the dog will shed less than a golden retriever is not based on fact--maybe they will, maybe they won't--no guarantees in the doodle world!
I looked at the pictures--see the waves on the ears? This pup looks like it will have a wavy fleece coat--the hair is still short which is the only reason it looks "flat"--not at all certain it will remain that way....doodles change a LOT as they grow.
These two pictures are of the SAME dog--1 year and back at 8 weeks...
