Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Who has Goldendoodles? Who has Labradoodles? Who has other types of Doodles? I'm just curious who has what. Thanks.

How old are they? :)

Phoenix is a 10 month old f1b goldendoodle. She's around 55 pounds. She barely sheds - just brushing after bath and tiny hairballs in a couple corners.

Oh my gosh, she's cute.

Rilee is an F1 goldendoodle, a year and a half old. She is a fairly heavy shedder. She's 55 lbs.

Gorgeous!

Ludo is a 6 month old Australian Labradoodle (parents both ALDs).  He doesn't shed and is 30 pounds (estimated to be low 40s when full grown).

I'm noticing a lot of people with puppies under a year old stating that they don't shed. Keep in mind that shedding often doesn't start until after the coat change, so until a doodle puppy has gone through that, you really don't know that he isn't going to be a shedder. Puppies who do shed will continue to shed, but those who don't might still shed as adults. :)

"Like"!!!

Sadly true!

Is it the norm that a tighter curl will mean less likely to shed?

Generally, yes. The tighter curl is more likely to mat; the straighter hair more likely to shed. That being said, you won't know for sure until they go through the coat change between 7 months to 14 months or so. If you look at discussions in the grooming group, you will get some idea of the coats people are dealing with from a grooming perspective.

Both of mine are F1 Goldendoodles. Bella (white, 5 1/2 yo) had an English Retriever mom and poodle dad, Murphy (apricot, 7yo) had an American retriever mom and poodle dad. They have totally different coats. Bella  sheds slightly, easy to maintain, Murphy doesn't shed, but mats easy.  Both are just full of doodle love.
