Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone!

We got the pictured dog a couple weeks ago from a woman nearby who claimed she is a F1 Mini Goldendoodle. She received this pup as "compensation" because her mother's Golden Retriever was used for the pregnancy. She didn't have any paperwork, but she did send pictures of the parents. Unfortunately there's really no way to confirm authenticity and I think that was done on purpose since it's technically "hobby breeding". The dad (she claims) is a 10 pound toy poodle that was darker brown, and the mom is a red, flat & straight coat Golden Retriever.

She did provide a signed contract with all of her info on it where she writes in that the pup is a Goldendoodle, but when I look at her, I just don't see many tell-tale Doodle identifiers. She has some good fluff to her, but I can't get over the ears. They're not long and floppy, they're shorter and have perk. I know all Doodles are different, so I'm hoping there are some really knowledgeable users here that can help me out. We love her, so at this point, we don't really care whether she is or not. It would be nice to know since I paid for a Goldendoodle (though she wasn't too expensive).

I can't imagine this woman would put herself in a legal predicament by providing a signed contract stating she's a Goldendoodle.

Anyways, thank you very much in advance for your opinions!

Thank you all so much for your thoughts. I wasn't going to pursue legal action, despite having a cousin who is a lawyer that would do it for free, it's just a matter of principle. I'm not SHOCKED that the consensus here is that she isn't a Goldendoodle. It basically just affirms my suspicions. Under other circumstances, it wouldn't matter to me if she was part hippo, it's the fact that we specifically wanted a Goldendoodle because of the low/no shed coat.

With an F1 goldendoodle your chances of that are still only 50%.  Whenever anyone says they want a non-shedding dog, I tell them to just get a non-shedding dog not a mix :)  Poodles, wheaton terriers etc. are great dogs and guaranteed to be non-shedding.  With the right cut they look almost identical to a goldendoodle.

Has anyone in the house had problems with allergies and has Leia shown any signs of shedding?  Like J said, even with F1 Goldendoodles there is still a 50-50 chance they will shed and some will be allergic to.  There just are no guarantees.  Leia does look like she does or will shed, but of course only you will know how the allergic reactions will be with her in the house.  I hope both are a minimum if any at all, and that you will keep her as Im sure you have all bonded with eachother by now.

Luna didn't shed until she was about 7-8 months old even with her flat coat.  As soon as the puppy coat started getting replaced she shed like crazy and hasn't stopped since ;)

Kristoffer, I can make you feel better right away. :-}   A huge percentage of first generation doodles shed - some as much as a retriever.  Others have paid good money, like you and ended up with a shedding dog when they thought otherwise. Here is some information on allergies and dogs that you might find interesting:  http://doodlerescue.org/group/isadoodleforyou/forum/topics/the-alle...

Whatever she is, she is so adorable.
To throw another breed in the mix, my friends mini schnauzer has ears exactly that shape! It will be interesting to see how she changes as she grows :)

Very sweet and adorable but very unlikely to be a Goldendoodle. :(   The person who did this is a crook (IMO) but then sadly there are lots of them in the dog breeding business.

My Goldendoodle is black. Her mom was a chocolate and the dad is the GR. I'm not sure, but some goldendoodles have smaller ears.
She's cute either way.

My goldendoodle is black too. Her dad is a chocolate mini poodle and mom is a gold f1 goldendoodle. Color genes are odd to me. And I'm not sure if this is a goldendoodle, but I wouldn't discount it based on color alone.

It's more the ears and the colour pattern rather than the black colour that has me thinking something like border collie.

Unless dad was a parti poodle then those white patches are suspicious to me.

My goldendoodles's ears are longer, but she also has white patches. Her colors are in the middle of a change which is common as well, but she was really black when we first got her with white patches. The pup above does look border collie ish, but I don't know what minis look like. I just have my big girls. :D
