Are labradoodle's coats usually curlier than goldendoodles as a rule?? What would you consider a major difference besides the parent's breeds?

NO. If anything I would say that GD's are curlier than LD's in the first generation...but it really just depends on how the genes line up. There are straight haired and wavy (non curly) in both mixes in the first and second generation. As you move up in generations you'll see more pretty much only fleece (wavy, straight, curly) and wool (curly) coats...why do you ask?
I agree--but it also depends on the breeding. My LD has a very wavy coat as an F1 and my neighbor's GD has a very curly coat as an F1B
I'm trying to decide whether our next dog should be a GD or a LD. I don't want the real curly hair as in the poodle, but more of the wavy type hair. Just trying to find out from different owners if there are any major differences, good or bad, in either breed. I think both breeds are stunning though.
The thing is since neither the regular labradoodle or goldendoodle is a 'technical' breed...each litter of both kinds will have a lot of variation. So you can get wavy in either kind...just depends on the puppy you pick. You may also want to consider an Australian labradoodle or a higher generation labradoodle...more consistency usually.
I have a 16 week old Golden doodle. His hair is getting long and I wonder if I should get him groomed yet> His hair is wavy not yet curly but does their coat change as they get older? His coat seems to be curlier close to his skin. I know he is getting lighter every day but I was just wondering if puppy hair changes. I want to take him to our groomer to get a good brushing and of course a pedicure and ask her to trim around the eyes but I do not want her to change his puppy look. His mother was a Golden Retreiver and his dad was a standard poodle. Also he has started to shed lightly-does this mean he will always shed or could this just be his puppy hair growing out?
Hi Debbie,

I would post this as a brand new discussion topic so it gets the attention it needs. Perhaps stop by the Doodle Grooming group and ask there. My guess is that it is certainly possibly he will shed some--no way to predict 100%. Since he is an F1 goldendoodle he may stay the same or he may get curlier...time will tell.

There are some great hints for how to communicate your grooming needs to your groomer-a bunch of recent discussions cover this. I would recommend you search through the forum archives and you'll find a ton of helpful stuff. Good luck!
We have a fib and it is not curly,it more wavey, but she does shed.
I have a multi generation GD who has curly spiral coat, I have a multi generation Aust min LD and his coat is fleecy and wavy.
