Orvis Deep Dish Dog Bed

Hi everyone!  I was thinking of ordering Cooper a dog bed from Orvis.com.  It's the "Deep Dish Dog Bed" with memory foam.  I was wondering if any of your doodle has this bed and if he/she likes it.  It has very good reviews.  I bought Cooper a rectangular bed from PetSmart.  He doesn't sleep on it but uses it as a pillow while he is laying on the wood floor.  I thought if I get him the deep dish bed, he can use the side as a pillow.  Thanks in advance for any input!

Laurie, how is project "GET OUT OF MY BED" going?  I am very tempted to get the Orvis bed and now that summer is coming, the extra body heat of two 60-70# dogs is a bit much.

So, trying to return the too small bed turned into a bit of a farce! And I DO have to pay for shipping to send it back. I emailed them and explained that the bed I purchased based on their size recommendations was too small and that I would like to exchange it. They said "sure, send it back". I replied that I was in Canada (I mentioned this fact in every email) and was concerned about return shipping fees - in the hope that they would offer to pay for return shipping. Of course, even though I was replying to the email they had sent me, each response from them was from a different person. They just said "send it back for an exchange". I got the box out to pack it, and noticed the paperwork said I needed an authorization number to send it back, I emailed again asking about this and they sent me a return label for FedEx. I wrote back that I would rather send it via the post office as I thought it would be cheaper. Finally, I had a reply from someone who noticed my many statements that I am in Canada and he sent me the proper return instructions - I have to send it back via DHL, and he sent me the correct paperwork and authorization. Something that should have been simple got very complicated!! So, after all that I had to pay $75 shipping (DHL are supposed to pick up the box from my work on Monday), and I have just placed a new order for an XL.

Beautiful puppies and beds:) As ours is a pup the first bed was opened up and tossed out within a day. I ordered one from canine ballistics and after the first softer quieter bed arrived within 15 minutes she had chewed two holes in it. Called them and they sent a replacement bu in their durable kevlar covering and zero issues. Just wanted to share:)

Hi Jenny, I was wondering what size deep dish bed you'd recommend for Jaxson. He's about 36 pounds. But he has more of a poodle body - long legs. Would you get a Small or Medium? Like Cooper, he doesn't sleep in his bed all the time but I want to replace his current one because it isn't easily washed - you put the whole thing in the washer and I'm afraid it would never dry here - it's just too humid. I bought it because I liked the print. And I also have to figure out if it will fit in our bedroom, Hawaii houses are kind of small! Thanks for the help!

I would probably get the medium. I found their size recommendations tend to be too small.

My 50lb dog fits the large, which they say should fit a much larger dog - it didn't!! I had to give the large to my smaller dog and send the medium one back, then had to reorder an extra large for the dog that should have fit into the large...... It all got very complicated!!

Your best bet is to measure the length of a current bed that is the right size, and then get the Orvis bed that is closest to that length. These beds are very deep (hence the name, lol), but unless your dog never likes to stretch out, you will probably have to go with the bigger size. Forget about weight, you can't go by that. For example, Jack needed the XL, even though he weighs 75 lbs and the XL is supposedly for dogs 90-120 lbs, because he needs the length on the XL.

Thank you! Jaxson likes to stretch out and he can't do that in his current bed. It's the bagel bed and he has to curl up or hang over!

Hi Janet! Cooper is 49 lbs, at his max and I ordered the medium for him. He still doesn't sleep on it but I do catch him on it every now and then. He mainly uses the bed as his pillow. lol I would recommend the medium for Jaxson. Like Stella says, the recommendation size seems to fall a bit too small. If I had to order it again, I would order large next time, just more room for him to spread out. Oh and I cover the bed with a bed sheet so I can just throw the sheets in the washer, much easier :)

Thank you! I mainly want a new one because his old one should be washed and I just don't think it'll dry here- it will mildew. Jaxson lays in different places, right now he's UNDER the sofa! It's so funny because he barely fits!

LOL he's so cute! That's probably his safe den! Jaxson must have to crawl to get out. Lol Cooper likes to nap between a wall and this pot of plant I have. That's where he would go hide if he doesn't want to be bothered. :P

He does have to crawl out! I didn't think he was going to be able to get under there at our new house because there is carpet in the living room (until we remodel). We had hardwood at our Pasadena house so the floor was slippery making it easier for him. So funny! He also likes to lay under the dining room chairs.
