Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We brought home our little guy a couple of days ago & he is the calmest puppy Ive ever met! I have a very omega toy poodle, but even he wasnt this laid back. He just sort of lounges around. He doesnt seem to be feeling bad & is eating/drinking very well. Actually, he is very food motivated and comes running for food. He doesnt have his first vet check until tomorrow, but I dont suspect theres anything wrong. Just curious about it because our experience with our previous doodle was sooooo very different. He was a maniac in every sense. But we did grow to love his mania!

I like that comparison. Snufaluffagus!!!
It's my favorite :) especially when they just trot along!
Finn is so much like that! He just trots. Hes sort of timid. He does love other dogs & seems to be getting along well with our poodles.
He's a little baby Snuffy! I'm so glad he's fitting right in with you guys. I always joked around that I should have named Loki that, and I still call him Snuffy sometimes!

Picco was very calm and wasn't very curious at all.  We got him at 3 months old from a backyard breeder that didn't interact with people much, just his mom and siblings.  He took awhile to trust me and I coaxed him a little.  It takes him a long time to trust anyone else which in a way is a good thing.  Never been a chewer or destroyer except for the occasional napkin! He does play hard and wrestle but calms down when time is up!  Not food driven at all. I can actually leave a plate of food within reach and he doesn't even approach it.  I couldn't ask for a better mannered dog and still am amazed and grateful over his temperament!

Gunnar is calm like that with the exception of puppy fights with his brother Tank.  Tank, per his name is the larger bulldozer and Gunnar is scrappy when they play/fight.

Gunnar is the explorer and leader outdoors, but is more aloof and poodle like with his affection than Tank who is the classic Lab goofball.

Still trying to figure out who is dominant as it seems to vary.

My Clyde who is 7 months now is the calmest dog. He loves to play with his brother but so sweet and loving. Easy to live with.

When Charlie was a puppy I called him "my little old man" - he even shuffles when he walks.  I could be blindfolded and tell if he was walking into a room! LOL  We have two ALDs (6 and 4) and both are very laid back. I am so thankful for that!

Teddy is my 6-month Toy Doodle.  Got him in September.  I work from home so we've been together 24/7.  My sister and others say I spoil him....too bad !!  LOL

The first few months, he'd play with toys by himself (10%) or nap/rest (90%) most of the time. He would rush to the sliding doors to my terrace or the apartment door when I opened them.  When I put him in his crate and later his playpen, he would jump up and bark and then after a few minutes he'd chill out and sleep/rest.

He takes notice when I have a guest here and sometimes annoys friends who come over to watch TV. He'll occasionally bark at night saying he wants a snack and/or wants me to play fetch with me.  When I take him outside for walks or Long Fetch, he loves it.  Ditto dog parks which we have gone to for a month or so.  And he gets excited when I take him to Petco for Puppy Play Time or his puppy classes.

Aside from him having to go out to do his business just when I am about to eat or enjoy my fresh coffee, he's pretty low maintenance.  Aside from the 6-7 times he rings the potty bells ! LOL

When Beau was Teddy's age, he would hang from the doggie bells just to play, or if he wanted to go out and play.  I took the bells down for a couple of weeks and then when I put them up, he was back to just ringing them to go potty.  We went through 2 sets of potty bells and the third set we still have! LOL I have never enjoyed a dog as much as I enjoy my two doodles, they are almost like kids!!

Yeah, a few times Teddy will ring the bells after he has done both #1 and #2 and I will say "NO WAY YOU HAVE TO GO OUT !!!"  LOL

But when he was younger, a few times he'd do #1 or #2 and then 15 minutes later he'd ring the bells again and I'd moan and say "You couldn't do it when we went out a short time ago ?"  LOL

He will usually ring the bells a few times. If I don't move to put his leash on and/or grab my jacket/his snacks, he'll ring it again OR he'll bark.  I still know he has time before it gets panicky; this is why if I am about to hit the shower I will move my pace up to avoid a problem.  Not sure what his limit is, but I have gone about 15 minutes or so.  When I see him laying down outside the shower, I know I have time.  If he ever kept ringing the bell and barking, I might have to hop out, dry off, and put on some emergency jeans to take him out.  LOL

And you are right, I LOVE having this guy.  Kinda glad I have been at home during his baby puppy months, even if it was unintentional.

TIgger was very mellow puppy and is a mellow dog.  He is however a master counter surfer and thinks "come" is a suggestion in spite of constant training he follows his nose!  In all other ways he is an awesome dog.
