I have an 9 week golden doodle who seems to shed a ton will her coat eventually change? I also wonder if she is going to be a straight coat with no beard. I am not seeing a sign of a beard but her ears are wavy around her neck is wavy and when she is wet you can see the ends of her hair are a little curlier. She seems to have a wire coat underneath her as well. She is a good dog is minding well I just have allergies and can't have her shed to much

Thank you so much for the advice
Hi Trish, I am a new doodle owner as of 14 months ago. Eli has a fleece coat. I will say he shed like crazy as a puppy and I was sure it was a forever thing because that is usually rule of thumb according to this website and some friends I know with doodles. However he doesn't shed at all anymore. It was as if he was shedding his puppy coat shortly after we brought him home at 11 weeks and it lasted until he was about 7-8 months then nothing. His coat is incredible because it rarely mats. Only in the armpit areas and a tad bit in his tail. He goes to doggy daycare and that is where he usually gets a few tangles which come out like a dream. We got very lucky with the non-shedding and tangling. Hope you have the same luck. The intense chewing is another story! Guess we can't have it all. :) Love my doodle!

That is great, Karen and although unusual, not unheard of--I am afraid though that Trish would still be allergic whether her pooch was shedding or not.

I have a F1B nonshedding doodle. I am mildly allergic to him. It is the dander not the shedding. We got him as I have a toddler who is allergic to dogs. She has no problem with our guy. For her it is saliva only. Our guys was trained young not to lick and clearly she has developed a tolerance for him. I recently started allergy injections. It is a long road but I know I will always have a dog. Fortunately, there is a treatment of you are willing to make the commitment for weekly injections. I wish you luck. Coats with mixed breeds are unpredictable. That said, environmental allergies can be worked around sometimes. If it wasn't for doodlekisses I am not sure I would have found the support I needed. That said, follow the common allergy advice. You will most likely be fine!
