Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Kona is amazing and I love that she is a doodle. When I look at other doodles I am amazed as well, as to how wonderful they are. I just thought maybe we could share what is so particular about the doodles we know or have seen that make us love them.

We had a terrier poodle mix before. She was amazing...but, totally, intrinsically not gentle. She was kind of, well, I'd like to bite the head off a gopher terrier type. Cool in her own way. But, Kona, she is inherently gentle natured, and the other dogs I have seen that are doodles, have been very intrinsically gentle, sweet dogs. I think in Kona's case, it might be the golden retriever in her.
What a fun Thread! My favorite thing about Zoey is that she is so loving. Me in particular - lol - but other people and dogs as well. She will go up to others when we are at the dog park and weave between their legs for attention. Of course people are enchanted. She gets along well with other dogs as well, and has lots of energy for playing. She loves to go to places like Petco or the hardware store - I think mainly for the adoration. ha
Oh gosh... There are so many!
Jake is so gentle when taking food, my last dog would practically leave a bloody stump.
He is so soft, everyone comments on his super soft coat.
He is so smart...too smart sometimes (I say this as he is lifting the garbage lid up with his nose)
Ned - you see the wheels turning before he obeys a command, deciding if it is worth his while to obey. He decides it IS worth it. but there is always that little delay while he makes that decision.
Clancy - he is a 'talker.' He moans and groans and grunts and talks all the time as he enjoys his toys. He LOVES his toys.
Charlie, Charlie, Charlie, just gotta love him. He lives to be loved and is confident that he is. He trusts us to the moon and back. WE are his fourth owners so I have no idea where this trust comes from.
It's true, our Kona is so trusting too. Also, when we've run across a couple of standard/medium doodles recently with their owners, when you talk to them for 30 seconds, they sit and lean their big bodies against you, smile and ask to be petted. So affectionate.
LOVE people, understand many words and their meanings, love to be with you, (great companions) ,often not territorial towards other dogs, get along with cats often (Notice I am not saying ALWAYS, because I have three doodles and they are all different!) Love hugs and very sensitive to the needs of their people.
Funny story about sensitivity--when my most sensitive doodle hears me getting mad at my hubby (this happens often, I am afraid) he jumps up on hubby's lap as if to protect him--it always makes us laugh and cuts the tension--he is 45 pounds, by the way, so this is not an easy thing to live with. When I see him upset, I stop yelling--so it works!
Awe! What great pictures! I love the first one the best - it's like Holly is saying "I'll give you your space, but I'm right here if you need me!"
