Very first Welcome message from this site is SPAM!!!

Tried to look up person who sent message and their profile is sent to private. 

Will need to rethink joining this group.

Oh Im so sorry! I have never gotten a spam email from this site in 6 years. I hope you will stay with us as there is lots of valuable information in many of the groups!

It's not spam email. It's just a spammer who joined the site and is randomly posting comments on peoples' personal pages. It happens maybe 2-3 times a year and then when it's reported, they are banned from the site. It's annoying, but there is no real threat.

Peggy, please see this other current discussion about the spammer. It has been reported to our administrator and will be handled. As I mentioned to Lori, there is really no threat, and this happens very infrequently. And the newest people are the ones who get the messages because you come up first under the "Members" section. It's very unlikely this will happen to you again.

I recently joined (maybe about 4-6 weeks ago). I got this spam message today as well, but the administrators/moderators quickly helped me understand what to do.

Otherwise, I have found so much useful information from this group. It's well worth it.

I'm a member of a few other forums & this happens on those sites every once in a while as well.

I recently joined also. I got a rather strange message on my profile from another 'member'. The message asked that I email them privately. Is this what you received?

This is the message. It's harmless, it's a spammer trying to get someone to contact them; as long as you don;t do that, you're fine. All you have to do is delete it, using the little "x" next to the comment.

Peggy ~ this is unusual.  I have been on this site over 7 years and never had this happen.  I hope Adina (our admin) has deleted the spammer from the site by now.
