This discussion is great opportunity to get feedback. Many people in this group have had their photos in the calendar year after year.
1. If you can't decide which photos to submit, this group loves to give opinions! Number your photos and PLEASE, no more than 4 photos per post. You can post multiple times throughout the weeks but I don't want to see 20 pictures in a single post.
2. Post images that you want recommendations for regarding crop, or editing help.
3. Not sure if your image is up to snuff? Post and ask. We will give honest feedback as to what is working and not working.
4. If you are open to reshooting your photos, post your photo and we can give very helpful advice on how to reshoot and make it so much better!
Good luck!

I understand that iPhoto will not accept raw format for newer cameras since it's a discontinued product. So you take the photos in raw but then discard them? I guess I don't understand.
No, I didn't discard them. They are still on my card. I haven't ever used RAW before so when they wouldn't load into iPhoto, I don't know how else to get them. I only used it the last time I shot because I thought I would give it a try. Didn't work for me :(
You can always put them in a folder on your computer separate from iPhoto. If you can access the card on your computer you can put the photos anywhere. But I don't recommend having duplicates, unless you are a pro and need backup, because it just complicates things and doubles your files unless you are really organized.
I do understand your thinking. I would recommend upgrading to Photos so you can use the RAW files. And spending a just little time learning it. I don't use it but found myself having to figure things out for my neighbor. The interface a little less intuitive than I had hoped for, but it's not that hard and there is an advanced setting in the editing menu that gives you quite a bit of image editing options.
Nancy, I will upgrade to the Photos program. I just have a hard time letting go of the program that I know and love. But it has to be done eventually so I will most likely make the jump in the next few months.
Totally understand. I held out for a long time with the aperture program, hoping it would be continued. Switched to Lightroom and spent time watching online classes on creative live, and never looked back. We all hate change but it is inevitable and necessary to adjust and adapt.
What a sweet picture, that smile!
Joani and Laurie thank you so much you two did an awesome job on all the pictures and so quickly! Now you have tripled the decision making to narrow down to only 5! lol I'm absolutely baffled how you can change the eyes so effortlessly, remove the boat and WOW her coat/color? Thank you again, fingers crossed you'll make her a winner!
Glad to help. Glad Joani helped, too :) Good luck!
Thank you everyone for your kind words regarding my mom. I am still at such a loss. She went into the hospital with asthma related respiratory issues and was taken from me as septic from a UTI, either they didn't catch, couldn't get control of it or simply ignored it! One thing for sure they certainly ignored my pleas that something was off and she wasn't herself.
When my dad passed in 2001 during our last conversation he asked me to take care and look after mom so for the last 18+ years we have been together/a constant. She was my rock, my friend, my historian, my travel buddy and I was her caretaker and so much more. My daughter, her and I became closer than I could ever imagine. Shortly after my dad passed we took three absolutely amazing road trips across the great country of ours; in 2001 right across the middle and up (total of 35 states - missing 9/11 by a few days), Alaska in 2003 and the Gulf coast to DC and little Delaware in 2004. Imagine the three of us in a 23' RV with a dog, cat and either a guinea pigs or rats! We had the whole family and not once did we get snippy with each other. She was so full of love and was just a warm friendly and happy person, grateful for everyday she lived. Only thing that every pissed her off was politics but growing up in the depression and WWII she had every right to have an opinion. Going home to an empty house is way harder than I ever expected but then her loss was sudden and I wasn't prepared.
Thank you again and hug those you love daily, for you never know when things will change.
What a lovely tribute for your mom.
Jolene, I am so sorry about your mom. It sounds like she was a very special woman.
Such a beautiful tribute to a wonderful mother.
