Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

January of 2015, I ventured out on a snowy blistery almost impossible to drive in ice storm to pick up this 6 year old that had been tossed around to several homes, I had no idea what I was getting  myself into.  Through trials and tribulations, tears, kisses, licks and hugs, Elli has proven herself to be one of the sweetest, gentle tempered, most gorgeous doodlesI have the honor to have in my home and my life.  My camera shows the difference we can make in a life with TLC...and I do emphasize the TLC!

She is a very lucky girl! She always looks so happy in your photos.

Thank you your time andlove

That's what a little love can do!    Was she 6 in that first photo?  She looks like a pup.

Yes...they told me the previous owner had her for 2 1/2 years and he thinks she was almost 4 when he got her off a site.  She was and still is a "runner"...plus she wasn't spayed til she was 4.  May explain all the homes that she's been in...knowing Elli, she probably thought she was just out spreading her love!

So sad in the first photo; so happy and well-loved in the second.  It is amazing, isn't it?  And so worth it.

You have changed your babies too, taking them in and giving so much love.  I have to draw the line at 2 tho!  Skadi was given to us too, but she was only 3 months old...not to say she wasn't a challenge at first, but she didn't experience the amount of shuffling around that I suspect Elli endured.

I like to think so.  What a difference lots of love makes - what most people don't understand is that it takes time. They want to adopt a rescue and have a happily ever after immediately.  It rarely works that fast,  First, the dog needs to understand that they ARE home, forever home.  And it takes time for you to discover their strengths and weaknesses i.e. faults (to determine what you can change and what you adjust to) - like no-off leash.

Charlie, hid his insecurity by being excessively  'happy' and affectionate - and by having serious diarrhea for 2 months! However, look at the eyes....

They look very happy today!  You are right about folks & dogs...so much to know ... I hadn't had a puppy in over 40 years when we said yes, we will take Skadi.  Boy!  Was that an eye opener...at first I thought what the heck have I done?  Then...I fell in love with her and you do whatever it takes to keep them happy!  And you know that takes so much more than you can learn in a book.

I'm so glad you found her!  It breaks my heart to hear of unhappy or unloved animals. She's gorgeous!

I just love all of these beautiful happy endings. Dogs who have finally found their forever people. It's just beautiful.

I am so glad you found each other!!
