Your pictures of Jake, especially the ones with your son are very special. Congratulations on both your new puppies - best of both worlds in sizes and colors. It's going to be a wild ride for a while but once they are grown and settle, it should be really, really wonderful.
Thanks Shelly....Banjo is a "mini"....um....but he's grown to a full 52lbs! I think most would call him a medium! I wanted a 30lb'ish dog....oh well! We love every pound of him!
I hope you are enjoying the winter that we are "not having"....my doodles are saying where's all the snow! - but I think we're supposed to get some today. I was just over at the Walmart there in Canal Winchester on Gender Road and I couldn't believe how warm it was outside.
Re: Face brush:
Well, I seldom use a brush on my dogs face, but when I do, I use the regular-sized soft Les Poochs Yellow brush - unfortunately, we are sold out of the Yellow brushes right now - there are more coming in a few days. But I think you could just use a regular comb such as the 7.5" Anti-static Xylan Comb as seen on our "Grooming Tools" page. We also have it available in a smaller size 4.5" if needed, but Jake is a big boy so you probably would not need the small one. These combs also work well for removing the yucky goop out of the corners of the eyes (at least with my doodles).
Yes they do look a lot alike! Where did you get him? Is he fixed? We haven't gotten Darby fixed yet & have been considering breeding her! Yes she also loves going to work with me. She obsesses over the pastry display sometimes though! She loves snickerdoodle cookies. lol
Thanks Shelly, I decorated my page and fooled up my profile picture and don't know how to fix it, guess it will stay that way for the holidays. Jake is just adorable and doodles do seem to love the snow.
I'm really glad for your sake that Jake's coat doesn't get too bad! Right now, Sheba has a lot of mats and both of them need baths badly! We have some snow on the ground and it's useless to bathe them as they knock each other to the ground and get wet and dirty. I figure I will bathe them next week as my foster doodle, Annabelle, will be leaving on Thursday for her new home, so they'll all get a bath Wednesday night. Oh how I wish Sheba & Duke were as easy to bathe and dried as quickly as Annabelle. I do most of my own grooming but once or twice a year I break down and have them groomed.
If you do a search of the members in Ohio or Columbus here on DK you could leave a comment on their page. Most people are pretty friendly and will answer. I really wish I could help you with a good groomer. Maybe you could ask Kemp Rader here on DK, I think he grooms his own doodles but he may have some "connections" and be able to suggest some good groomers.
Don't worry about Jake misbehaving. My Duke can be a real stinker at times!

Hi Shelly,
It's nice to hear from you. :-)

Yes...that "Dreaded Coat Change" is the worst!! Ugh!
I'm sure he'll be fine though.
I give Sasha something to chew on during that time...and talk to her throughout...with a small treat or two as a reward.
She went through that coat change time...and I tried to keep her long too...but eventually had to have her cut down.
It was the best thing I did for her and really for me too.
Now...I really can't believe it...but ever since her coat grew in...she doesn't mat at all!!!
I don't understand that...BUT...I am Not complaining!! Lol...
I'm keeping her at about two inches...and it works well...especially since we live on a lake and she loves to be in the water.
I'm scissor cutting her...and it's going quite well.
I love that we can keep one another posted...
Hope you have a Wonderful day!!
Oh...and don't forget to send Hugs from Sasha...
Hi Shelly...
I just got a chance to see the pictures of Jake's new "haircut"!
Looks like your're doing a good job my friend!
The practice is really paying off...
Sorry I missed the Birthday Celebration.

Hi Shelly...
I just took a look at your pics...and I loved them...and your "cutie" Jake!!
I actually laughed out loud when I saw the one with him hiding in the blanket! Lol...
I was looking for a before and after of your first scissor grooming...wanting to see how you did...and maybe pick up some pointers! (smile)
I'm waiting for my new shears to come in now...and can't wait to get started with them...
I appreciate all of the help and support...
I don't know what I'd do without it!
Thanks again...
Hugs from Sasha and me...
