Help! About a month ago we had our backyard leveled & had new sod put down. I was concerned that when Duffy peed he would leave
burn marks on the new grass. My landscaper told me that male dogs
don't ruin the grass when they pee that it only happens with female dogs. Well, I am starting to see burn spots on my new lawn. I don't
know if what my landscaper says is true & if it is true am I feeding
Duffy food that is producing acid. I need to save this new lawn ( I have one very upset husband).
Wouldn't it be great, though? Not just for the burned out grass problem, but no more big bare dirt areas worn down from playing! No more muddy feet, or those big clods of dirt & grass stuck on their feet that end up all over the house! I think I'm going to start saving up for the turf...fortunately, I have a small yard, lol
It's mud season here in RI!
Lucy has a burned out area near the back door and last summer and fall we watered down after her pee frequently. But, since the hose has been off all winter- it's gone!
If the grass comes back, fine, we'll try again. However, I'm tempted to try pea gravel. She's a digger and I'm worried she'll move it all around. And, it it safe to have pea gravel? What if she swallows it?
We have an unfinished back yard right now which will get finished this Spring. I'm going to put some pea (pee) gravel in a corner like many have suggested. I was worried about Max trying to swallow the gravel but, I think it will be safe by late Spring when he is no longer mouthing everything.
Sandy, your Dad is so right. My husband would always work on having a really green lawn and address all the brown spots but once you get a dog, there goes the lawn. I guess we need to contend with having a dog and forget about the nice lawn, lol.
If you have a dog, give up on the lawn!!! There are some kinds of grasses that are supposed to be hardier and more dog resistant, but I don't know how good they are really. We have just had all the snow melt and our garden is almost entirely mud!! I am beginning to think it may be beyond repair!!
