Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi Everyone,

I found a dog that's been at the Humane Society of El Paso since the end of January. He looks like a doodle to me - what do you think.

I've emailed and spoked to the shelter, and the thing is they have no history on him. If anyone's been following my blog in the last few days, you'll know that he might fit what I am seeking - a non-shedding, smaller dog (he's 30lbs)....BUT what they cannot tell me is whether is he good with children and I have a 4 & 7 year old.

I'm told he is not a jittery rescue and seems like he is a well-socialized dog. I find him adorable and am hoping to be able to rescue him!

Can anyone help me:

1. with advice on whether this looks like a goldedoodle/labradoodle to them
2. possibly is there someone close to the shelter who wouldn't mind checking this dog out for me - probably a real stretch, but if anyone could help, this would be the place to ask.....

I'm away from my computer until Sunday, but will try to login from my destination later today.

Hi Barker's Mom..I saw your post ...I actually have Bamm Bamm listed on Doodles In Need as he could very well be a mini...He is listed as being small, but that is relative....Everyone's idea of small isn't always the same...He has a doodley face but he could very well be a cockapoo....I think it's worth a visit....You might want to call and ask if he has a docked tail....Not that it makes much of a difference as in the south and out west they will dock doodle tails and vice versa with poodles and cockapoos but it helps to ask....Also you will want to ask them if he is long in the leg relative to his body length...if he has short legs then he probobly is a cockapoo...If he is a classic square ( body length and leg length are equal which is a sign of a well bred poodle) or his legs are a bit longer than his body length he could be a mini....
Samantha has short legs for the length of her body - just like a Lab. The only 'poodle' that shows on the outside is the little curls on top of her head - and is a gorgeous Doodle tho not 'typical' Doodle looking.
If he turns out to be a great dog who is the right size, has a non-shedding coat, and is good with young children, and he is sitting in a shelter waiting for a home, does it really matter whether or not he is definitely a doodle?
Agreed!...Doodle or not, he may be the right choice for your family and he is in need of a good home.
I think he is a beautiful dog and does look like a goldendoodle! You should adopt him!
Looks like a doodle to me!! I think you should go get him and bring him home!!
If you go into the 'Groups' section at the top of the page, type in Texas, it will show you the different DK groups based in Texas. You can join their groups, view the members to see if anyone lives in El Paso. You can then reach out to them and see if someone who be kind enough and go check out the dog you saw.
Keep me posted! I will thinking of you.
What a cutie! He looks much more like a doodle than anything else. I hope you can help the little guy out! My doodle is only 35 pounds with shorter legs and a stocky body and she is just such a perfect size. Good luck to you!
My vote is-definitely a doodle, and a really cute one. His face looks just like our GD. If he is good with kids, then go get him.
Hi,
I think he is adorable. I hope you can adopt him. How exciting!! Please keep us posted.
Wow... That's a long time to be in a shelter.....
He truly need a foreverhome soon....:(
I am no expert but he sure looks like a doodle of some kind to me. I hope you can help him by giving him a forever home, but I know your concerns about children. He would probably be so grateful to be rescued that he would be wonderful.
