My year and half year old Doodle is the most wonderful dog in the world, we never really went through any of the tough puppy things with him but he will eat, rip apart, destroy, annihilate (get the picture) anything and everything you give him to play with. Despite toys being billed as "indestructible" my boy figures a way to destroy it. He still needs to be crated because he likes to eat paper (e.g. the bills!!) and gets into the garbage occasionally, but he won't touch furniture, cabinets, shoes etc. The only thing he cannot destroy are nylar bones but I would love for him to have some other kinds of toys to keep him occupied, maybe it'll distract him. We've tried everything - he even tore apart a tire made from a real tire!
Halas has a couple of ORKA toys that he loves. He destroys most of his toys, too, but these have held up. He pulled the ropes out of them, but he loves to chew on and play fetch and chase with the blue rubbery part.
We got these for our puppy and he trashed them in less than five minutes!! He shredded the fabric, pulled the stuffing out, and then began chewing the blue plastic into chunks!!!
If you go to reviews at the top of the page, look up Zogoflex toys and the Everlasting Fun Ball. DK members have commented on these two tough toys. We have a Hurley bone made by Zogoflex. They don't play with it. We also have the Everlasting Fun Ball and our younger doodle loves it. He usually wrecks most of the toys that we buy. I bought the ball on a whim, and I am so glad that I took the chance. I figured it was another $10 down the drain!! But I was wrong!!! It is kind of a bright green squishy ball. You can also put treats inside if you want. I believe it comes in two sizes. I bought the one that he could carry in his mouth. In fact, I bought another ball just in case the first one gets lost. We also buy Tuffies #10 and the fire hose toys but eventually- usually in a few weeks- he chews through the seams. I hope to get a few new ideas from your post. Kathy (Ellie & Oliver)
We have many of the JW toys...our doodles love the Dinosaur and regular Cuz toys. We have mostly Medium/Large and it takes a long time for them to get destroyed.
Barney too destroys most toys fairly quickly but he has had an ORKA Jack toy for about 6 months is only now able to bite pieces off of it. Its a great toy to play with as it bounces all over the place
One of my doodles can destroy Cuz toys in ten minutes and the nyla bones are favorites but only last a few days. Zogoflex toys, especially the hurley (bone or stick shaped toy) is adored by ny super chewer and is still like new after a year.
My dog likes the red kongs the best, she does chew them up in a day or two, but it keeps her from eating shoes and undies (mine are her favorite!) The black kongs are harder than the red ones. The Nylabones would get really really sharp and cut her gums up so watch out for that. :)
