Does your doodle collect / chew on / play with rocks.....?

We had golden retreiver, Bonnie, for years that loved rocks. She would carry them around; pile them up; chew on them for hours. So we weren't surprised when our golden doodle, Daisy, started displaying the same behavior even though Bonnie had been gone 5 years when we got Daisy. What we find so interesting is how common these quirky behaviors are among breeds.
Daisy is quite a character.

My doodle doesn't do rocks, but we had a german shepard that was obsessed with them. Rolled them around, caught them, dove into water after them, buried them. Maybe a little bit of Bonnie's rock spirit is reincarnated in Daisy! :)

Our late Labradoodle Zoe, loved rocks! It started out as a game on our walks, I'd kick it and she'd chase it. Then it progressed to to her carrying the same rock for the entire walk and then onto not just rocks - but other trash or debris. I will never forget the time I had to call the vet to see what I should do because in our subdivision - which is a new development- one of the blocks/streets are unoccupied all around and teens park back on the side - well being new to the area - I was unaware of the trash and nasty things laying on the ground and Zoe - maybe 6 months at the time ate a used condom. I was sooooo disgusted, shocked and just couldn't believe it - I tried to stop her but it was too late! We had to watch her poops for a week to make sure it passed.

Yankee loves rocks. He takes riverstone from the garden and flips them around, chews them etc. Then he piles them by the back door with the hopes of bringing them in. He has managed to get a couple of them into the house.

Daisy sneaks them in all the time. I'm forever tossing them back outside. What I hate more is when she sneaks in a hard clump of dirt and proceeds to "explode" it on the carpeting. She's lucky she's cute!

We have a collection of rocks, it recently was dumped into another part of our yard, hopefully Leo won't see it.....he doesn't do it as much these days as he did last year but he tries to hide them in his mouth. We always know he's got something because he'll run past us with his head turned away. He'll begin to chew and then stop if we look at him. What he doesn't know is that usually there is a big buldge on the side of his face where he is hiding the rock or another item.

Mine does that too! No idea why, but loves to find a golf ball/tennis ball size one and go to town on it. I don't know if she's chewing it or just kind of mouthing it, but it's not hurting her teeth at least

Cagney likes to chew on rocks too... have some along the patio and he will dive in and play with them...

Toby picks up, carries around, flings into the air, rolls on, and occassionally eats rocks. He doesn't appreciate giving them up. It requires a special treat in trade for the rock. And I have NO idea where he finds them all!

Ours like to steal them from the garden and fling them around in the air when they are playing in the grass. They only do it when the pet sitter comes to let them out as they know better than to try it in front of us. She let's them get away with much more than we do. We did find that one of our doodles swallowed rocks on two occasions as she threw them up.

Charli is no gnawing on the boulders that are on the side of my pondless-waterfall. I finally figured out why - she has both her baby and adult canines in on the top. Ghewing on the boulder, she knocked one out. Still waiting for the 2nd. I hope soon so she won't need to have it pulled by the vet!

Yup. I wouldn't call him obsessed, but he definitely likes to chew on anything from nature. Rocks, twigs, leaves, bark - anything from outside. He does the hidey thing too...tries to sneak them past us. :)
